Nitriding question...............

Has anyone experienced Nitriding wearing off???

I was considering having a bolt nitride but was wondering what if this would eventually be an issue.

What sayeth the masses????

The nitriding bat and stiller uses wears off but thats just the way it goes. Its still there just kinda turns silver. I have a couple with TiN coated bolts and they hold up a long time. Wish there was a good way to have that done by an individual

Never had a problem with the action showing wear, but the bolt will show some, especially the Stiller's with there tight bolts, or any tight bolt...

Butch, tell me if I'm wrong but isn't the black coating just a byproduct of the treatment? The treatment or hardness is really in the metal? I ask because the black wears and the action becomes smoother to operate.

You are probably right, but it seems as slick to me from the beginning and as the black goes away.
