Nikon Scopes

I'm in the market to buy a new scope and wanting to stay in the 300 to $400 price range. Any suggestions on what would the best buy? So far the Nikon has seemed to get my attention.

I recently bought a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40mm for $270. This is a side focus model that comes with standard target turrets, an additional set of larger tapered turret knobs and a sunshade. Mine has a fine crosshair w/dot reticle. Fine optics, this scope is a steal for the money. While it isn't in the same class as my NXS, its quality and features make it a best buy, IMO.

Burris makes a very nice Signature Select in your price range, and it's made right here, and has the best warrenty in the business.

Midway has Nikon Monarch series on sale now at great prices. I have two 6-18x40 Buckmasters and one 4.5-14x40 Buckmaster that are incredibly clear. Lifetime warranty also. Shoot Strait teele1

What will the intended use for the scope be? Do you want fixed power or a variable? Power range? Do you need paralax adjustment? There are lots of things that make a good scope and some offer options that others dont. I've never heard anything real bad about Nikon, but then I know very few shooters that own a Nikon scope.

I shot a 9 or 10 year old 6.5-20 Nikon Monarch on my 1000 yard Br light gun this summer...Worked pretty good for me...Wish they made a higher power target scope.8-32X44 MAYBE....Got your ears on Nikon????

I really wish a lot of the scope companies would make higher power variables. Weaver, Sightron and Leupold also come to mind. Why stop at 24 power????

Today I looked at a new Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 with fine cross hairs and a dot reticle. It took me a minute to get used to the cross hairs being that I'm so used to other styles. The price out the door was $375.00. I believe that this could be a good price. If too much, please let me know. I do like the scope but for just target shooting, I hate to spend that much money on that scope when there are other's that will work just as well.

That is exactly the scope that I was looking at. And the price before taxes was only $10 cheaper. Thanks for the info. This helps me out on making a decision.

Midway has the 6.5x20 Monarch on sale for $350 and it is a better scope than the Buckmaster . But it is not the side focus .

I bought one not very long ago for $270 from a local discounter. I've seen them at similar prices on e-bay.

I recently bought two Nikons. One is the 6-18x40 with side focus
,$270.00)works very well on 11 pound 1,000 yd. rifle. It has 50 moa of adjustment. The other is the 6.6-20x44,now on sale at Midway $349.00) also for 1,000 yds has the AO on the bell of scope with 38 MOA adjustment,1/8) click on both. I like both of them. Shop around for these because prices have been changing.
