Nightforce Scope lettering ?

Why do forum members designate white lettering vs. gold lettering when describing Nightforce scopes?
Do either of the white lettered vs. gold lettered scopes have an upgrade?

Two of my older Nightforce Benchrest 12-42x's are "gold" lettering & numbers. Two new, bought within the past year are white. Spoke to Customer Service at NF recently and asked if they had a list of production dates that match up with serial numbers, and was told the factory keeps those records & they are not made available. Thought that would be an easy way to come up with an approximate date when the gold was changed to white. Leupold makes this infromation available, and I applaud them for it.

I have heard some complaints with workmanship on the newer NF scopes with the white lettering. I have more than a handfull of the Gold lettering 12x42 BR models without any issues at all.

I just received a new 12-42X Nightforce NXS with white lettering and no complaints. The elevation knob divisions are crisp, precise and well done.

I'm trying to read between the lines here...

Does the lettering color indicate some sort of manufacturing method change? What are the workmanship complaints?

The last three I have are all white. The two NXS and the F1 are all white lettering. The only difference I see in markings is the standard NXS are marked made in Japan and the F1 is clearly marked in white on the top of the tube Made in USA.

I know they have to know. It is something that probably points to when they started having scopes made in Japan for them. With the Earthquake they had earlier in Japan it really hurt NF’s ability to get scopes to the shooters. Incase the shooters out there did not know NF has already bumped up their prices to the 2012 prices because when you buy now you will not get your scope until after the new year. Something to think about
