Nightforce reticle choice

Hello,

Well, finally looking to bite the bullet and pony up some $$$ for a Nightforce scope... probably should have done it several years back, but what the heck... :)

Primary uses for the scope will be load development,of course!), NRA HP Prone Any/Any matches, sling w/ scope, often @ 1k following a Palma match), and F-Class.

I'm leaning very hard towards a BR model because 1) cheaper, 2) front focus instead of side, finer adjustment possible from what I've heard/seen), & 3) 1/8 minute clicks, since the new F-Class target has that little 1/2 minute X-ring.

Unfortunately this limits my reticle choices considerably over what is available in an NXS model. For some god-forsaken reason NF doesn't offer the CH reticles in the BR model scopes?!? It does look like a person can 'upgrade' a given model w/ any reticle they want... though the $150-180 price tends to eat into the lower cost of a BR model. Specifically the CH3 or CH2 reticles are looking pretty attractive for what I want to do. Ranging and huge hold-offs aren't really in the cards for what I want to do w/ this particular scope. I do have other guns that would probably benefit from a MLR or NP-R1 reticle, just not this one.

Any suggestions, comments, experiences to share?

TIA,

Monte

Do you use the 2 MOA dashes for elevation or crank the scope all the way? I have been useing the dashes with the cross on the bull and add minimum clicks to get it dead on.

click all the way...hasn't affected the 1K groups...i have ~5MOA remaining below my 100yd zero, and about the same above my 1K zero.

If you are not holding center, more risk of confusion...saw it happen once...was zeroed on one hash, and switched holds in the middle of the group accidently :,

JB,

Wasn't planning on getting the NP-R1 in a BR... more like a 5.5-22x50 NXS on another rifle. But that's neither here nor there...

Whats the subtension of the stadia on the R2 reticle? The reticle booklet that is on NF's site shows the distance from one hash to another, but not how thick the stadia itself is,like it does for most other reticle designs in there).

The CH2,fine 0.080 moa lines, 0.200 moa ball or dot) or the CH3,0.080 lines, then a 1 moa gap around a .125 moa dot) sound pretty much along the lines of what I,think I) want. But it is an added cost option. The NP-1 has very fine,0.080 moa) center lines, and the NP-2DD has that .1875,3/16) moa dot... and both are 'standard' options on the BR scopes. Basically I want as fine and discrete of an aiming point as I can get.

Thanks,

Monte

I called Nightforce about a reticule change and was quoted a price of $120.00 to do the changeover.
