Nightforce Power Ring Clearance Issue

does anyone know what the set screw on the side of the power adjusting ring on a nightforce 12x42 benchrest is for? i need to turn the ring slightly because the bolt handle of a bat action hits the knob when it is set at 42x. keeps the bolt from opening. i loosened the screw but it didnt let it move and didnt force it.

Forum Boss: Screw is for reticle calibration (per NF) and should not be adjusted. Lesson of this thread is to call mfg. first. As others stated use higher rings or mounts scope further back slightly if clearance is issue, or reduce power before manipulating bolt.

Highly suggest that you dont try to take them apart. Whatever glue they use you will ruin stuff before you get it apart. best thing for you to is send it back or find a way to make the bolt handle clear. Bending the handle slightly down or putting taller rings on it are most likely better options.

I had that problem on a Grizzly ii action. Sent the bolt back to kelblys and they ground and polished a slight bit off so the bolt would clear. You could do it yourself if you feel brave enough. I didn't so I sent the bolt back. I'm sure BAT would do the same.

it only hits when on 42x .40 clears ok so i will just live with it- i already had to send the bolt back to bat as the handle fell off before i even got to shoot it. they were very fast to get it repaired and returned to me though.

In other words, nobody who's yet chimed in knows what that set screw is for. I suggest you contact the source directly. Facts are good.

i called nightforce this morning. that screw is a reticle calibration screw and doesn't do anything when you loosten it. but you can,t reposition the power ring. maby a sightron will clear that ole bolt handle.

jus close the bolt before going to 42

I took a die grinder and took enougt off so it cleared then colored it black.
