Nightforce NP-R1 reticle for P dogs?

Hi all,

I'm putting together a 6mm Rem Varmint rig and plan on topping it with a 5.5 x 22 x 56 Nightforce Scope with the NP-R1 reticle. It will be a P dog shooter mostly. My question is how is the NP-r1 for p dogs? I've never gotten to see one in person so I was wondering mainly about reticle thickness.

Thanks

I have one in my 8-32X56. It is very fine and should let you see lots of "dog" at very long ranges. Mines an NXS.

Fantastic, I just ordered one. Second question, at what magnifcation is the MOA marks accurate? I'm assuming max on a particular model?

I think my BR model is great, but the side focus would be easier in the field. The 8-32x56 is for the 9" target at 22 power. You can change the power and use it for other size targets. I need more field time with mine to really get good at it, but that's me, not the scope. BTW my other scopes do not look too good after I use the Nightforce for a while. Especially the Black Diamond 8-32X50, but I have it back at the factory maybe they can correct some problems? My Leupold 6.5-20X50LR is ok, but that is just my opinion. JimDee

The NP-R1 is not available on Benchrest models. The reticle application varies on different scopes, but the 5.5X22 and the 8X32 it is 22x on both scopes.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'll have the scope in a few days but the rifle will take a while to build. I imagine I'll spend a good deal of time peering through it longingly.

YOU GOT to have something you can put that scope on so you can "Go outside and play"
It's a sin to let that scope sit around in a box.
Have fun!!!
