Nightforce 15-55x52 Benchrest Scope question

Larry Koch

Has anyone used this scope in competition, and successful????? Just asking before purchase. I know the 42x fixed power is good.
Thanks for your reply

Larry

The question is on 15-55x52. Does the scope hold. Dont want a scope that dances around the dot. At any distance.

The older models ( year 2013) had POI issues and some people are still
complaining of a few problems in the newer ones still.
Much less and few and far between now.
Still one of the most popular scopes on the line, if that tells you something.
Wouldn't let that hold you back.

I had one new 2023 15-55 shot 100-200 bench and it was clear bright glass and good turret adjustments
I use March now, but both are wonderful and hold poa
That is kind of my interest. I have March 48x And Sightron 45x ed. . Both hold solid.
I have spoken with someone who just tested a Nightforce this year, and said it wasn’t
holding.

I had no issues. Shot mostly 100 yrd at 40x setting
Traded for 40x60 March to match my other rifle.
Nightforce glass was brighter to my eye, but for me it is mentally better to have fixed March with ability to go to 60 if needed for 200-300 and still be on a fixed scope. This is without any personal evidence
that NF variable had any issues.
Hey I saw Harley Baker at a class this year and he is on a 45x Leupold. That has a history that is documented, yet he is using it successfully. Not sure if it is modified

Its more about what works for your eye's as far as im concerned. I got them all and kept the one that my
eye likes the best...They all work well and I sure would'nt hesitate to purchase another NF Comp if that's what my eye liked the best...as for tracking I aint had a issue with March , NF or Sightron.

You might look at the Sightron.
Never hear of a POI change problem with them.
@lancexxx is offering really good prices on them now.

Have 4 NF Competition's 3 Variable and one of the discontinued fixed power ..... Great for FSBR.
All are very sharp and track flawlessly.

Great scopes, zero problems, both of my LG are wearing NF Comps but if you can make the weight with Majesta and the extra $$ is no issue I'd definitely seriously consider the March Majesta, have one on my HG and I can run it at full 80x power if the mirage isn't too bad and I think it does make a difference in 1K competition.

An unfortunate incident earlier this year at a 600 yard BR match left my NF 15-55 looking like this.
The scope took the full impact of a drop on concrete from about 3 feet. This happened just after I had verified zero for the weekend match and I was 300 miles from home. I was ready to pack up and head home but someone suggested I try to see if the scope would function. To my amazement, I was able to get it back on target in three shots. I stayed for the weekend matches and finished 3rd in the Two-Gun both days. There was NO problem with failing to hold POI all weekend. Guess what I will buy for my next scope?
BTW, I sent the scope back to NF and they repaired it to perfect condition and returned in 8 days (from the day they got it until I had it back) and it is as good as before the accident.
