Nicest Shooting Ranges in America

We in Palm Beach County Florida may have a nice range some day. However I wouldn't swear to it one way or another. The Florida Wildlife Commission has been promising a range for 3 or 4 years and they still don't have an opening date.

Whittington has some silhouette ranges in case you want to try that. I don’t know if they are only for competition but I think anyone can stand them up and knock them down. I didn’t get to try that when I was there but it looks like fun. I have not been to any of the other places listed in this thread, but Whittington is really nice and has some nice cabins you can rent too. I wish it wasn’t over 800 miles from my house.

The silhouette ranges are generally available for use when competitions are not taking place. The high power silhouette is an absolute hoot. They also have a silhouette pistol range as well as a range just filled with tons of steel on hangers.....out to 650 yards as I recall.

I've finally settled on the following descriptor: "If you've never been to the Whittington Center you can't imagine it. And if you have.....you can't describe it."

Or nice as in Shelby County Deer Hunters near Sydney, Ohio. 100/200 yard benchrest with a good valley between the firing line and 200 yard targets. You need 22 foot wind-flag poles. Nice club house, reloading porch on the club house and reloading barn. Nice hill back of the line and club house for reloading or camping.

Fun place to set up flags.... lol

Shelby Co is probably the closest range to me that I would call nice. Really enjoy shooting there. Also like WWCCA in Michigan.

900 yds just 15 minutes from my house.....Only available during the late fall and winter but still a great place to practice and do load development

Nice ,to me is solitude . Sunday evenings I have the range to myself with the Canada geese . Only goes out to 300 yards and no concrete benches but it's a very nice place to shoot. Day passes available. North East NY/South Canada along the St. Lawrence Seaway.Massena Rod and Gun.JPG Massena # 2.JPG

I nominate the Bench Rest Rifle Club near St. Louis. Actually in Wright City, MO. Here is a link to some pics. There is an additional 300 yard range with 25 covered firing spots, which they don't have pictured.

A comment on their restroom facilities, which are at each firing line. They are maintained in immaculate condition at all times. I also commend their practice of training as many members as possible to be Range Officers. You can always see 3 or 4 orange range officer flags at every line.

La Crosse Rifle Club south of La Crosse,WI. 600 yd across the course,F class, sporting clays, trap and pistol. Plus a great club house. All in a beautiful valley in the coulee country along the Mississippi river.

.

Well, my vote goes for Ben Avery Shooting Range, in Phoenix, AZ.
I really like to go there once a year and enjoy the good people and instalations. Very diferent landscape from where I live...

If you’re a shot gunner the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio is pretty nice. Not for rifle though.
