I have one of his savage replacement fluted bolt body and it was a bigger diameter than the one I had and it tightened it up nicely. The bolt cycles much better now.

+1
Just put the bolt back together. Forgot to mention originally 6 to 8 weeks lead times got mine in 4.

Have a bunch of their products, they do very nice work! I know the business and don't understand how they do it at their prices!

I have been getting a complete run around for several weeks now on a plain Jane 6br reamer!! I don't mind waiting but if the time frame quoted is blown out of the water, its a different story. On top of that, "oh yeah, it will ship this week" crap is nonsense. Don't say it if it isn't true! They do make nice stuff, but will stick with in stock items....my reamers will come from elsewhere...

I hear ya...I swear I spoke to 10 different ladies and got the same story. Each one said they would check on my order and call back, never once got a call back! Its like none of them really care one way or other, plus they can't come close to answering any technical questions!

Guys,
Get real, that's a very busy enterprise, they are not there to give concierge service. If you want that type of service you'll have to open your wallet a lot wider.

I bought a 6mm Competition Match reamer and go gauge. I had issues and had to make several calls to get the job done, but their price are excellent, and eventually everything got worked out. David Kiff even called me to educate me to make sure I got the right measurements on the reamer. In my book that's first class service at coach class prices. I've only bought once from them. I have no axe to grind. Seems some others here do.

Either lower your expectations or pay a premium by going to a different shop. You cast a vote on which business is going to thrive and which is going to fail every time you make a purchase. It seems to me that PT&G is capturing lots of votes.

Kindest regards,

Joe

Well, after 3 reamers in a row that are off spec, I am gladly opening my wallet elsewhere. JGS is 12 weeks out and for the extra $50 you may actually get the reamer you ordered.

But you actually got a reamer from them way more luck than I've ever had with them. You'll like JGS reamers. I have three of them now. I would have had 3 PTG reamers but they never could put it together. Don't frankly know how they stay in business?

Busy or not, I could care less. If they quote 6-8 weeks, I expect at least some progress by the 8 week mark. When the 8 week turns into 16 weeks and my status is the same as week one, there is a PROBLEM. Price wise, the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong PTG makes fabulous high quality parts at a reasonable cost and I have a few. I will continue to buy from them except my reamers.

Never had one off spec. Why did you order more if that was the case? Kinda confused!
Butch, I think you should go buy a Lotto ticket your a lucky man.
.124 fb dasher actually a .150
.134 fb dasher actually a .125 and a body too small.
.220 fb .284 Dont know if this one is off as I have not had it checked with an optical comparator yet, but it puts the pressure ring of the bullet right in the middle of the donut. So either its off or Dave gave me the wrong advice on free bore.

I ordered the .135 to replace the .124, I wanted a little longer fb and wanted it .001 bigger at the shoulder and base.
The .135 shows up so small I dont have a die small enough to make brass fit the chamber and its .025" shorter in fb length. I did not know the .124 was a .150 when I ordered the .135.
The .284 was ordered a while ago and just used. I have learned my lesson though.

With gunsmiths I have spoken to and some of the better shooters I know this is a very well known issue with PTG.

An oxymoron don't you think. Get your other reamer maker to make your other parts for you. If I have a problem I go to the source and don't skewer the company.

I've always been pleased with them. Most good companies are keeping very busy right now. Considering the tremendous growing pains they are experiencing, I've always been impressed with how the girls there are always polite, and how Dave is always patient and helpful. The fact that they can be off a couple two or thee weeks with delivery projections is to be expected, and it's no big deal to me.

I also had this problem with them. But I also asked them to do their best to expedite my order because I wasn't the one that made the mistake. Two days later David Kiff called me and the next day my reamer shipped. I was respectful in my conversation with David and I also mentioned that we all make mistakes, that's part of being human, so I don't want to cause a problem for anyone, but the company needed to do the right thing. I believe he did. Sometimes WHAT we say is as important as HOW we say it. In a world where many people act like a squeaky wheel looking for grease, kindness and courtesy goes a long way toward getting results.

Kindest regards,

Joe
