NF Comp 15-55x52 reticle?

I shoot smallbore prone at 50 and 100 yd and I have been using Leupold 1" tube scopes my whole life, currently a BR-36. I was at a match this weekend on a rainy day, and had trouble seeing the crosshairs against the black bull due to low light.

Maybe it's time for a better scope? I like the Nightforce Competition 15-55x52 for a few reasons. It's lighter than the NF Benchrest (I tried one and it's too heavy for a 1600 match), it has a bigger tube and objective than my Leupold to get more light in, it is variable so I can change the magnification for different distances/conditions, and I know the glass is very high quality.

My only issue with the Nightforce Comp. is the offered reticles are very, very thin. I'm thinking I will have the exact same issue seeing them against the black bull as I had with my BR-36. Did Nightforce ever offer a bolder reticle in the Comp? I like their Mil-Dot reticle, but I don't think they offer that at all anymore. Maybe a bolder crosshairs, preferably with a dot?

Same here, keep losing the fine cross-hairs. Just mounted a NF BR 12-42 with the DDR-2 reticle. Clean view and I can actually see the dot!

try a scope with a illuminated green or red dot.
I have a Maven 5X30-56mm I shot on my F-class .22.
I loved the Green dot for 100 yds
It also has windage tic marks

Personally I prefer the FCR-1 reticle for LRBR. I get a fine aiming point. I just ordered another one with the same reticle.
I just picked up several with the FCR-1. Bruno’s is the place to go. $2,049 for a demo with no tax and usually free shipping. Demos are still sealed in the box.

That’s a great deal’ i received a 40% off certificate from the nationals a couple weeks ago, should be a nice chunk of changed saved. I considered the DDR reticle but struggle with the thick lines then thin lines while broken and a .095 dot that when I do the math covers 1/3 of the x ring at 1 k. I know some guys love them but I’m not quite there. lol
