Leupold dot reticle?

Picked up an older used 7mm mag Rem 700 recently, with a 6x Leupold. The scope has a reticle I've never used before, a "Leupold Dot."

So far I like the scope. Sighted it in, and hunted with it one day last weekend. Anyone here use one or know much about the "dot" reticle? It's a pretty big dot, but I'm not sure how much it subtends. The crosshairs are tapered, thinner towards the center.

Any info on this reticle, the design and the purpose, would be appreciated. It seems very fast and easy to use. Regards, Guy

Guy,

All I know about it is what I can find on Leupold's website:

"Leupold Dot
A Leupold exclusive, this reticle still has a prominent dot like the so-called “floating dot.” But the thinning portion of the crosshair makes locating the dot much easier."

Sorry not much help; you might try calling them for more info.
