NF 2.5-10X32?

What do you think that the realistic distances are to be able to see and shoot a coyote with this scope on 10x. Regardless of caliber. Basically what do you think is the max distance for coyotes with a 10x Nightforce. I do realize that weather conditions will play a factor but for this questions sake just assume conditions are perfect

A few months ago I was watching a guy at the range next to me with a 10x SWFA SS hitting a 14in gong at 1046 yards...so I'm going to say as far you and your rifle can accurately make a clean shot on a coyote (that range is entirely up to you and your skills), you will be able to spot him with the NF.

I know that's probably not the answer you wanted, but it's true. I can't make a shot on a yote past 400 yards, but I've known (reputable) guys who have made 600 yard kills. Either way, if you're worried you won't have enough magnification, dont be, the good glass of the NF at 10x will get the job done.

TY thats exactly what i was wanting to know...ive done alot of research around my area and found that most average coyotes are around 10-11" tall from top of back to lowest part of the chest. I dont plan on doing 1000yard shots but some where around 600yards and under. I just didnt know if 10x would be enough. Its not enough with the $400 and cheaper scpoes ive used. But ive never owned a NF so i was hoping the better glass would make up for having a max of 10x

I started coyote hunting with guns scoped in the 6-20X magnification range. Over the years, I've adjusted the magnification down to 3.5 to 10X Leupolds and never felt under-scoped. Most of the time the scope is at 3.5 power, with the option to crank it up if they hang up way on out there. Heck, we hit prairie dogs at 600+ yards, why not a coyote. I think you'd be fine ( especially with Nightforce glass ).

My hunting partner has that scope, and I lust for it ;D

I shot a coyote with an 8x32 Burris Black Diamond on 11x. A 500 yard shot and I did not feel the need for more magnification.

I agree that depending on your reticle, you are limited by the accuracy of the rifle. 10x is more than enough.

Would anyone like to comment on the low light performance of this scope with small 32mm objective? I am sure this is a great scope but have never looked through one. I have a 2.5-10x56 Trijicon that I use on an AR and I really like it but it's really a big scope.

I shot a coyote bedded last season, with a Leupold MK4 10X at 580yds. with no problem. Personally it is my favorite setup for coyotes. As long as you have reasonable eyesight you should be GTG. Here's a pic to get you fired up for the season. Happy hunting.

Really like the pic. Ive got a coyote hunting buddy also. I really like to see people including working dogs in the aftermath photos. Dont know how much mine really so called "works" but she can rain death on a chesseburger....LOL

Low-light abilities of the Nightforce...well...

Compared to 1 inch tubes, it seems to have a good edge. I compared my 4.5x14 x42 Burris TAC 30, which I feel Is a very bright scope... And I have 2 other Nightforce scopes, and the 2.5x10 seems comparable. I'll give my buddy a call and have a more formal review soon
