newbie here - how much is too much case lubricant?

One shot is good for .223 and 6BR. But for 308 and 30-06, imperial wax is the best. I use one shot on a 308 and I got a stuck case. Luckily I add a stuck case remover. There is a learning cure to the wax. Find a re-loading buddy. Bet there is one on this forum that lives in your area of Texas, that will help you. Just a suggestion. Good luck, be safe.
This is good advice.

While I never had a stuck case with One Shot, I did experience noticeable resistance when sizing 243 and 308 cases placing increased stress on my old RCBS Jr. press. I had to use an excess amount of One Shot and be absolutely sure I covered the entire body of the case to prevent a stuck case. The cost of this case lube started to get expensive, and I was always running out of One Shot.

Besides being a lot more effective and cheaper, Imperial Sizing Wax, does a great job. However, like nilebartram posted, there is a learning curve to using. Most first-time users apply too much and have dented cases. Also, it can be a lot slower process than a spray.

I credit Frank Shuster (RIP) for explaining how to effectively apply Imperial to avoid problems.

Many problems can be avoided, and significant cost saving can be realized if you have access to an experienced reloader, preferrable a precision shooter who reloads. Most of us have made all the mistakes and can save you from the same fate. ;) Best wishes.

All the die mfrs will tell you the only dies they get in with cases stuck bad enough to send the die in all had one thing in common- one shot lube. Of course there are plenty on here that always say if you use it right itll work fine. The only thing is it hasnt happened yet, but if the only lube that gets cases stuck is one shot id think youre just unnecessarily pushing your luck using it. A simple search just on this forum will show a common trend. I just cant understand.

My understanding is to get it to work you have to be liberal with it, like the left, go all out. At a seminar with Widden he said he uses it and his procedure is as follows..
Set cases in reloading block spray one side completely and rotate a 1/4 turn, spray again and repeat until all 4 sides are done.
He said he's never stuck a case and he should own stock in Hornady lube if there was such a thing. I personally have never used it because of the stories in the archives on here.
