newbee here with questions about a 40X 6mm

I bought an old 40x last week Sn 423xxb. It came with a Lyman superspot in 25x and a 7/8 inch SS barrel. There are no markings on the barrel other than 6mm on the left and REP in a circle on the right side with some kind of a proof mark below that.,I think it is a proof mark) It's in really good condition with only a couple of dings on the forearm. Is this chambered in 6mm Remington or maybe some other 6mm caliber. The trigger is really crisp but has probably a 3 lb. pull. What can you tell me about the gun as far as age value etc?

A 40 XB walnut,XB Kevlar stock will have a 27-1/4" Bbl installed.
6mm Rem chambering,1:9-1/4" tw) will be just that,not a 6mm BR.

Look for 2 stamped letters on the Left side of the Bbl fwd of the receiver, possably on the right side fwd of or under the REP stamping, the letters are the month & year the Bbl was made.

By action serial #,I would guess it left Rem in Ilion,N.Y. approx 10-15yrs ago.

Marget value,I'd guess approx $1000 - $1500-being NIB,new in box)

I really thought it was older than that only because of the scope. I couldn't find and dates on the barrel. Is there a place I can date it by the sn?

Thanks for your reply.
