newbe 6mm ppc loader needs help

just purchased a 22", 1-14,.262 neck barrel with dies and new 220 Russian brass formed to 6ppc. brass necks are .268,.014 thick , 70gr. bullets .243.when loaded the size is .270. won't fit the chamber of course but what is the best route to go? Turn the necks or ream the chamber to a no turn neck? I hate the idea of thinning the necks on the new brass, but are the larger chambers still accurate? Will the brass wear out much faster when thinned this much? How about reaming the inside neck some?Have no experience at neck turning yet but have an RCBS turner.Any info. would be graciously appreciated.
Thanks

I hate those super tight neck chambers. People do that so there is minimal neck tension on those lightweight bullets. They work well for BR accuracy, but just a PIA in my opinion. And yes, larger necked chambers are still very accurate.

.014" neck thickness is still pretty thick. I would open the chamber neck up to .269" and take the necks down to .0120 or .0115" thickness. Wouldn't recommend the RCBS neck turner for precision work. It will do the job, but won't turn down onto the shoulder to help prevent donut formation. Lot of good neck turners out there. I personally use the 21st Century setup.

All brass necks wear out sooner than you want if you don't anneal them regularly. Annealing is the key to long brass life.

Do NOT ream the inside of the necks.

I wouldn't mess with reaming the chamber. Getting turned brass is way too easy and cheaper too. There are a number of places to get brass. Ron Hoehn does a good job http://www.benchrest.com/hoehn/ on them. Give him a call and tell what the chamber neck dia. is and let him take care of you. There are others too.

How often does the brass need to be annealed? What do you think of the Sinclair neck turner?

Some folks anneal after every firing. I personally anneal after about every 2 or 3 firings. If you wait more than 3 firings, the brass starts to get pretty work hardened, neck tension is nearly impossible to control, and you'll be risking split necks.

Ive never used the sinclair neck turner. I'm sure it's good, but I can't comment without experience. I have the RCBS neck turner that mounts on the RCBS Trim Pro case trimmer. I use it for my less serious cases, like varmint brass, because I can prep a lot of cases much faster. Its not the most precise neck turning method, but i can keep my neck thickness runout down to +/- .001" so its good enough for varmint rifles.

For my more serious rifles, I use the 21st Century neck turner. Extremely well built and expertly machined piece of precision equipment. Hard to detect any runout on neck thicknesses with the 21st Century because its down in the low ten thousandths.

I've been shooting the pPC for more years than I care to count , IVE NEVER ANNEALED and get 12-15 reloads from each case . You may need to rethink annealing with a .262 neck .
Don't ream the chamber , you'll be throwing out a lot of what's been learned about making the PPC shoot .

I'm sort of in the middle with annealing. I will anneal 220 Beggs and 6 Beggs brass about every 8-10 firings. Probably PPC a little less. I have 220 Beggs cases that I've been firing 5-6 years. I do lose a case due to a split neck once in a while, but not often. One reason for tight neck chambers is that the brass is worked very little and does not split often. Like Tim said, get Tony Boyer's book. Do what people who are winning do. There is no point or need to reinvent the wheel.

What do you know about the new Norma brass ? Is it as good as the Lapua?
I know a guy that shoots it, and said its as good but he admitted he doesnt shoot as hot of loads as some guys. I saw a interview with a top shooter at shot show and he was saying norma had him test the brass and claimed it was as good as lapua. Primer pockets with hot loads is usually the problem.
