Newb question on priming w Lee lever vs hand held

I didnt see any info online about priming with the Lee lever priming system vs. using the hand held or bench priming tool.
I just got the Breech Lock Challenger kit, just waiting on the shell holder (which was not included) so I watched some videos on setting up and running through a few rounds. A lot of users of the Lee single stage press use a swager after de-priming to ensure a good fit of the new primer. Although, some did use the one step de-primer resizer on the way up and the lever primer on the way down. This seems a lot easier as it removes an entire step of the whole process. Is it necessary to swage brass if it is not a military round?

The question is crimped or not crimped, but your answer is no.

Some ammo is sold commercially and yet made to mil-spec with sealants and crimps.
Ones that say XM-193, or XM-855 sold as Federal are examples of ones that might include the crimps.

If the cartridge doesn't have a crimp, you don't need to swage the primer pocket.

You will want to learn to visually identify a crimped primer, and process them separately till you have that crimp cleaned up.

But it is a good idea to clean the soot from the primer pocket. Either a purpose made tool or a small screwdriver the same size as the pocket. It ensures that the primer seats all the way in.
