New York Keeps Losing Population . . .

i got rid of all my guns. Easier that way. There I was in the canoe on the Finger lake (those suckers are DEEP) when up came a squall. being overloaded anyhow with about 30 long-guns, it was a miracle i was able to right the canoe and paddle to shore. Took me nearly two days and i have no idea where I was (due to the fog) when it tipped....
Guns?!? What guns? I know nothing! * Sgt. Schultz off *

Uh, Snert, what lake was that? I have a gap in my .22 centerfires and I'll bet there was a .222 Rem in that canoe. I have a friend with a dry suit.

It was a traumatic event but the people at Cornell seem to be helping me...I no longer fantasize about those horrible guns...and I eat tofu

NYC born in 1950 Brooklyn and later grew up on LI (Uniondale) I still get back to NY about once a year for a party on the beach with old friends. Friends ask when I am coming back? Yeah, right I want gun control and high taxes. Nope, when I left NY I didn't leave anything behind. I have no desire to ever live in NY again. Just not for me. I also lived some military and DoD years in CA which is another place I never wish to live again. Been retired 4 years and the lure of NC is strong. :)

Successfully made it to Pa. With the exception of a trailer wheel that toasted a hub, lost its bearings, and liklely wobbled for 100 miles on the castle nut but never came off, we made it with only the loss of a fleurescent light bulb.

Got the truck unloaded, kitchen going, bedrooms livable, computer on, so we are in business. And I slept last night like I have not slept in 8 months.

I do not think I will miss NY

Glad to hear you made it safely, despite the trailer wheel problem. Has there ever been an uneventful move? I'm thinking no.

PA's gain is NY's loss. I can feel the average IQ dropping.

Happy Easter to you and yours!

Look at it this way, you're that much closer to Oklahoma! Hope all is well & happy Easter!

I just got a News Flash from the PA Game Commission. They say there is an unusual migration of groundhogs occurring. They're leaving western Pa. And crossing the border into New York. More at 11:00!!!

Tuition is only free if the household combined income is less than $125,000. There are also other restrictions such as residency requirements after graduation ~ 4 years. I traveled through eastern and central PA this past week, gas was as much or more as it is in NY, traffic was horrible, Philly left a lot to be desired and Harrisburg worse. There is construction everywhere. Without open space, there will be little shooting in those parts and in between pretty darn soon. I wish you the best Snert. NY isn't perfect for sure but the part of PA I just saw has changed considerably in the last 20 or so years.

Yes....this is why I lament every time I see a PA resident vote the way they have (till last election) because PA is lock-step with NY only 15 years behind, but trying hard to catch up! If only they could see the disaster NY has become and see it in themselves! But fre stuff is too hard to pass up.

I am kinda shell-shocked at gas prices (the PA gov passed a high tax on gas....dummies...) and food. Beef here must eat gold dust. I can still buy in NY and import! i can say that I am already more at peace. Things here are easier in many ways. Mostly has to do with mindset. Where I came from in NY the mindset was "can't so that". here it is "why the heck not?" Nicer people too.

I must note that I will be living there 6 months of the year...winter...on a lake...so if anyone likes ice fishing...

And Josh, i got my first invite to hog hunt today. But the guy said that yesterday the field sorta dried up and he saw "For Rent" signs all over the fields near holes. He is not sure what that meant. :p

Drove home to WNY, from the gulf coast, this weekend. Worst roads and highest gas prices were in NY. However PA and OH are catching up....FAST. Let's face it, it takes a lot of money to keep politicians in the style to which they are accustomed. It takes real talent to mis spend that much money. I heard there are 23 department in 11 federal agency's giving money to the poor. Do you think 10 cents on a dollar actually get to the needy? That a travesty!

I am so old that I still use cash accounting!

Cash basis accounting is a good way to stay out of trouble! Cash in - cash out = net income. Works for me, too.

I believe in taking a stand against this "modernization", also. Just say NO to online banking! We moved out of Pa. to escape the rising Real Estate taxes. More than $10,000 a year for a nice house on 6 acres. That was 15 years ago. A friend and neighbor stayed on thier 7 acres. They now pay $25,000.
