New Vortex Benchrest Scope .... "Golden Eagle HD"

I went with floating dot. Its almost identical to my Sightron MOA reticle. Nothing definite on delivery, but I've been waiting almost a year for this scope to be released after seeing prototypes last summer.

Thank you, I'll be putting my order in tomorrow for the FCH reticle.

Lighter than the Nightforce NXS or BRs that the majority are still using (which weigh about 34 if memory serves me), and about 3oz heavier than the NF comp. It's in the ballpark.

Yeah, Thor the nf was 24, it's 27.8

I'm skeptical about getting anything without NF on it. I had a 10-50 sightron that would always sling a wild one after adjusting the scope during a string and I'd drop one point every time then it would go where it should have. Never had a problem with that after switching to NF.

I just ordered one from Optics Planet. 4-7 week delivery. I took advantage of the 10% Presidents Day sale and got an extra $150 off. I am happy.

I went with the ECR-1. Hoping I will like it.

Sounds good. I'll hopefully be ordering one in the next week or so, if my financials shake out. I was looking at the ECR-1 also. I like the floating dot

Just returned from Berger SouthWest Nationals where I used this scope all week. I managed to clean the target a couple times and won the daily 1000yd aggregate for Sunday, eventually coming in 5th overall (F/TR). I was really happy with this scope's ability to "see" the subtle changes in mirage that were necessary to do well. I was at 60X for all matches except two specific ones where I dialed to 40X in order to see upwind mirage changes a bit earlier.

How was the eye relief? I love my Vortex scopes, but they seem very sensitive on eye relief.

Ian, I didn't get much chance to talk with you after the matches. How did the tracking perform? The mirage was so heavy on Saturday that I had to turn my Sightron all the way down to 25x, just to make out scoring rings. I'm done using it at Phoenix.

Hey Keith - hope the drive home wasn't too bad for you and Bob. Yeah, nothing exciting to report tracking-wise. It was true, as expected.

Seems like the consensus on availability is around June. I have the 6-24 VIPER PST. It tracks perfectly. Glass is crystal. I was gonna get another NF Comp but I think I'll go with the Golden Eagle. Great input guys, thanks!

Ian,

Good seeing you again @ the BSWN. The scope was certainly impressive looking - I think you may have a winner there. I definitely think we should have made you use that blue rifle all weekend ;)
