New Vortex Benchrest Scope .... "Golden Eagle HD"

Just saw this cross posted on a couple other forums, seems to be legit since Vortex employees are involved in the discussion. Thought some of you might be interested in the news, more specifically the second scope. The Razor HD has been a very well regarded scope for the PRS/Tactical crowd, and I'm guessing these will be excellent performers. Here's what was posted:

It is with great pleasure we announce two additional riflescopes to our 2016 list of new products. They are so new you wont find them in the 2016 catalog!
The Razor® HD AMG™ is the culmination of several years of careful research and testing and is made right here at Vortex Optics in Middleton, WI.

The Golden Eagle® HD is the perfect scope for bench rest and F-class competition shooters and comes with an impressive array of accessories. Both of these products will be live at vortexoptics.com on Monday, January 18, 2016.

RAZOR® HD AMG™ Riflescopes

From precision long-range shooting and tactical applications, to maximizing effective range on open-landscape western hunts, the Razor HD AMG is the ideal riflescope for an extremely wide range of shooting scenarios. At just 28.8 oz. it's the lightest weight, full-featured long-range riflescope on the market - putting it in a class of its own.

Unique to this Vortex scope, it is 100% made in the USA. Every component, from the Type III hard-anodized body, to the smallest screw even the index-matched lenses are made in America. If you're looking for a top-tier long-range precision riflescope, look no further than the Razor HD AMG.

GOLDEN EAGLE® HD Riflescopes
Specifically designed for long-range, known-distance target shooting, such as bench rest and F-class. This match-ready scope features a 4x optical zoom, side focus, generous eye relief, and a ruggedly constructed single-piece main tube.
Competitive shooters require a very specific set of features to stay ahead of the competition, and The Golden Eagle hits the mark (pun intended). The 15-60x magnification, fine reticle, and resolute increments of adjustment are perfect for fine tuning that perfect shot. Plus, the relatively light weight 29.5 oz. allows shooters to adhere to strict competition weight limits.

Just got off the phone with a dealer in my area. Told me that the Golden Eagle won't be out until this mid/late summer! But he expects the price to be around $1500. He won't know the exact price until later this week.

$1500 seems about right, thats what Eurooptic have on their site. Which is a fantastic price, looks like it should have good glass. I just dont like the reticle options, otherwise I would be getting on waiting lists. A zerostop would also be nice, but is not critical.

Ok, now that they finally put the news out themselves. I've heard from the designer that he will be shooting with the Golden Eagle at the Berger match coming up. He will also have some along for display.

Ah I would like to see them have good optics.
I bought a Viper HS LR in 6-24 FFP moa worst scope I may have ever owned..sold it Lost a lot on that deal.
I was very disappointed in it.

Great....Now I may have to buy another scope......was just waiting for Vortex to make a competition scope.

Seems a little bit light on the windage range of adjustment... would have preferred 50+ on both axes. Other than that, looks promising.

So far they've tested right at 50 for windage, Monte. As you know with a rectangular adjustment range, it's a bit of a rubber design sheet and the majority of end users favor trading just a bit of windage for elevation.

Good to hear. I've gotten bit a few times with running the windage adjustment into the tube @ 1000yds. The result on target was... unpleasant. As a result, its something I pay a *lot* of attention to nowadays.

Monte - - I hear ya......
Ran out once in a "spring blow" at a FClass match. Had all the Left in and was using the next target over to aim at... lol
That was with a NF 12-42x56 BR model (they have 44-MOA)

just finished visiting the Vortex booth at the 2016 Shot Show. I had my hands all over this one. It is very impresive! The glass looked clear, great reticle and the turrets are large and have easy to read registration marks. The vortex rep said that they are expecting availability to be sometime mid summer and the reatil price to be around $1500.00. I own a couple of different F class scopes Nightforce 12-42 x 56, Sightron 10-50 x 60, Leupold, ect.. and the vortex certainly appears to be a very visble contender. It's less expensive than a Nightforce Competition ($2,342.00) and more than the sightron ($900.00 or so). We'll have to wait and see how good the tracking is to really know if it can hang with the others, but it certainly feels very good when rotating the turrets (nice and firm like the NF, and its not heavy either. If it were available today I would buy it for my new dasher build.

Lighter than the Nightforce NXS or BRs that the majority are still using (which weigh about 34 if memory serves me), and about 3oz heavier than the NF comp. It's in the ballpark.
half ounce lighter than the SIII 10-50 that I use too.
