New toy was delivered for the shop new HAAS TL1 Lathe

Now i just need my true bore allignment chuck that is supposed to be completed soon. In the mean time i will be running the power to it. Once the chuck is here I can have HAAS tech come out for the final set up. Cant wait to get it up and running to try it out on a few custom builds I have waiting to be built. This machine is going to be a real time saver for the shop. Once she is up I will have to post some final builds.

As it sits right now with no chuck its 22" i am going to adapt a spider jig with my works cnc mill for the out board to just stabilize barrel whip since the true bore dies all the allignment on the inside.

Sounds like you could chamber long barrels without the Tru-bore alignment system?

You will have lots of fun with this lathe, congrats!

Just to give you a few more images.......https://www.google.ca/search?q=haas+tl+1+lathe&tbm=isch&imgil=8d2WBIXpH_v8yM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcQ4fGQGUpIU31kdL0b6WD4wVFcduM4eAkg0YKB4X9jclzSMWaE7%253B600%253B450%253Bt0_dL64IxPABmM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ewwenterpriseinc.com%25252Fmachining_equipment.php&source=iu&usg=__18HUjsHNTwTUq_LKwYLiM5KCldk%3D&sa=X&ei=v4WjU8PEIMWlyASOkYLwCw&ved=0CDIQ9QEwAQ&biw=1280&bih=911#facrc=_&imgrc=8d2WBIXpH_v8yM%253A%3Bt0_dL64IxPABmM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ewwenterpriseinc.com%252Fimages%252Fgallery%252Flarge%252FTL1_2.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ewwenterpriseinc.com%252Fmachining_equipment.php%3B600%3B450

Tomorrow morning I am going to paint the hand wheels on my lathe just like those....

Well after playing with the new machine and doing test cuts and programing while I waited for cable to run the coolant pump since it had the wrong wire in it from the factory and kept giving alarms with the cable so I just got the pump up today the machine was good to go since last friday morning. So now im really going to test out the thread repair function that comes on the machine to blueprint a couple 700 receivers. The first one is in the machine now and dialed in to just under .0001 of an inch. So tomorrow will be the machining day to recut the threads, face and lugs. Ill see if I can get some pics that are small enough size wise to post on here to show the process.

Well Two actions done one to go in the last two days of using the machine. The one on the left is my own personal receiver as I was using it as the test round for the programing side of things just in case some bad happened I am ok with eating my own not a clients. But mine went flawless dialed in to .0001 over the 7 inches of mandrel sticking out, and then trued the face and then cut the minor thread diameter to straighten the thread pitch out and touch to clean up the lug surfaces on the inside. I then set the thread tool in for the thread re-cut program they have built into the programing software on the machine and then marched the tool out until I hit my .015 over sized target dimensions and my plug gauge I made for the barrel profile fit perfectly inside the receiver I at that point have the same barrel dimensions on both receivers so now i can use the same barrel program for each receiver saving a lot of trial fitting work on the barrel tenon. The reamer for the clients receiver is coming monday its getting chambered in .300 Win Mag Tactical Match.

If anyone is interested on getting a receiver blueprinted let me know. The new machine allows for fairly quick turn around. I have an FFL so no worries there I can perform the work and mail it directly back.

Well the blueprinted 700 action for the .300 WinMag Tactical Match got a Hart barrel fitted today. Now I just have to chamber and flip it to do the crown and she will be good to go. I was ready just about 0 on the .0001 indicator with the grizzly range rod over the whole length of the rod. Should be ready for test firing by next friday.
