New to the forum. New to handloading

It’s getting a little cool up here in Delaware. 70-80’s. I’ll be heading past you in a week and a half, on my way to Kerrville. I need to work on my tan.
Bedding will help your accuracy. So will free floating the barrel. Both are pretty easy to do.
I recently bought a nice old 243. I’ll be looking for loads too.
Try the Sierra 85 BTHP with either IMR 4064, Varget, or IMR 4350. I've owned a bunch of 243's with conventional 9 to 10" twists and all of them shot this combo extremely well.

Another positive with this bullet, it can be used as a multipurpose bullet for varmints / predators and white tail deer.

PS: Thanks again for those 85's you gave me several years ago.

Welcome.

Any test is a good test if it gives you the same result more than once.

Some ladder tests produce results that are not repeatable.

Consider the OCW method. It will give you more reliable and repeatable results, quicker.

You follow that with seating depth adjustment.

Both of the rifles you mentioned that they were older 700 Remington's, If you don't know the complete history of these guns, it may be time for a bore scope. No need in doing all this reloading if the barrel has been abused or is full of copper. As expensive as bullets and primers are today i would want to know if I was wasting them before spending any more time on a barrel that is too far gone to continue trying.
