New to reloading what is a fair price for an 8 lb jug of varget

Located some varget and it seems pretty salty for what I have been pricing it on the net. But this guy actually has it and the other cheaper places are out of stock. Bought. 8 lbs probably paid to much. What is a fair price for 8 lbs

I've actually seen 2 jugs of Varget (8#) over the past couple months and the prices were $190 and $194-something as I recall.

I just received an 8 pound jug of Varget from Precision Reloading... $231 to my door, and I was happy to pay it.

Keep in mind, that $231 included shipping and hazmat fees that you don't have to pay if you luck out and find it locally to you.

I've got a small local place that has hooked me up with two 8 lbs kegs of Varget and about 6 lbs of H4350 in the past few months. VERY LUCKY!!! 8 lb was about $178 if I recall. H4350 is $27/lb.

If you need it, you need it! And we all know we need powder to shoot!

I haven't seen 8# jugs locally in a couple of years.

Ufb you must reload a lot. Seriously your going to retail I assume. The varget I bought came in on the 23rd and there just isn't any around so I paid to much. So how much is it to send me say another 24 lbs for real. Not that iam a professional but it does seem to be getting better here in indiana as far as being able to get some stuff 22lr is still one thing you just can't find at all

$180 with no sales tax when I bought an 8 keg last month. 3 months ago I bought 3-8keggers at $150/keg (discount for buying so much).

"fair price" is location/demand driven and really you will only get opinions by posting this question on the net. Powder pricing at the LGS level is all over the place. Out my way in NH you will pay $200 for the 8# jugs of rifle powders such as 4064 and H335, Varget is at $209 , and I payed $99 for 5lb jugs of R22 which is respectively a great deal per lb if you do the math. You don't save any money by buying online unless you shell out the cash for a max bulk purchase. I suppoort my LGS's and just buy locally small amounts here and there weekly. I have enough supplies to load up about 8000 rounds. I won't be bored this winter while it's too cold to shoot... LOL

Expect to find a shortage of varget for years to come since it's an imported powder and is limited by how much they can get on a container ship. Best to find an alternative such as IMR 4320 which can be trucked in from Canada or expect to get raped next time you buy. Everybody isn't lucky enough to get a jug for $160. I expect $200+ will be the norm for a long time.

Think all those responses are full of "prune juice". There is no availability of Varget anywhere except at my local gun club, Manatee. There the club president sells components. 8 # of Varget is $275 plus tax. He is selling the stuff too.

At $275 plus tax you should do 2 things. First and foremost, elect a new pres and second kick his a$$ till his nose bleeds. That's insane.
