New to Forum/Digital Scales

Greetings all,
Although new to the Forum I've frequented the 6mmBR site for nearly a year. Lots of good info from lots of good folks.

I have read postings where some members use the Denver or Acculab scales and read about testing of the RCBS CM. I saw where one member mentioned My Weigh brand scales.

I would appreciate opinions/comments from experience with My Weigh scales if any of you own such and care to share.

Thanks much.

When I was asking about scales, most who seemed to know anything about them suggested the Acculab.

I have a Chargemaster combo. When I let it sit with a charge on it, the reading gets heavier. Kinda lost my confidence in it so I am looking again at the Acculab.

Do you allow the scale to warm up before placing the charge in it and letting it sit? Minimum 30 minutes warm-up. I have an RCBS and a Lyman and they read totally different from each other and both not accurate until I let them both warm up. Afterwards they are both the same and on the money.

As far as the My-Weigh scales, they sure have a ton of models and some too inexpensive to believe they work well. What model were you looking at?

Yeee............

I'll hafta look into this. My first charges I'll say no to the warm up. I know I had it going for close to 2 hours when I did use it.

Thanx TheSnake. Gotta try it.

I've been using a digital RCBS (Model 90?) scale for years. I started to question it's accuracy and recently purchased a My Weigh Gempro 250. So far I have only used it a couple of times. My first impression of the scale was not good. Compared to the old RCBS, the Gempro is very small and light, almost toy like. The scale also seemed to drift quite a bit when I first set it up. I soon discovered that once the scale warmed up it really settled down and weighed quite well. In all fairness, the RCBS also works better if you let it warm up before use. The Gempro has some nice features and I am happy with it so far. The Gempro 250 has a 30 year guarantee and is priced considerably less than an Acculab. Only time will tell!!!!!

Checked the GemPro models, the iBalance 101 & 311, the 311 being the higher priced just under $400 from Old Will Knotts. I also looked at an Ohaus TAJ 203 & SPJ 303, the Citizen CB-60 & CB-90. With the exception of the 311 the rest are priced sub $300.

I have been using a jennings JSVG20 to back up my Harrels and works great comes with a pan that you can pour out of like a beam scale has put kind of small though check it out Mark PS link above sells them

I purchased an acculab about a year ago, and I'm quite happy with it. The warm up is essential, as with any electronic scale.
I find the drift to be somewhat less than other scales i've used or read about, but even after a half hour of warm, it still drifts in the .02-04 gr range, which I can more than live with.

Highly recommended.

I got a My Weigh iBalance 401. Works perfect and they have a 30 year warranty, can't beat that. Never experienced any drift unless there is a air draft.

I use and really like the Chargemaster. I did the straw mod and taped off 1/3 of the trickle tube. Doing so, make the powder throws accurate and very consistent. Before I did the mods, I had trouble with overcharge of Varget. At the end of the cycle, powder would build up in the threads and drop a large amount at the end.

Call RCBS @ 800 533-5000 M-TH and ask for Don Legg Jr. Don't accept a substitute. Tell him your problem. He'll fix it and restore your confidence.
