New to 45 acp

That is not a very wise recommendation for someone who post "New". Changing recoil springs in a target gun that is a dedicated IDPA or Bullseye pistol is one thing but in a range/CC gun that may use Factory Load is not smart.
About as smart as loading up 45 ACP and stuffing it in a 45 hoping for the best ?

I don’t think that was necessary, I followed data in the Lyman 51st book.
Don’t feel bad about it. Some mistakes are remembered best because of the pain involved in fixing them. I’ve been reloading for 50 years. About 7 or 8 years ago, I had a free afternoon and decided to load some 308 before my wife got home. In a rush, I managed to reload 200 rounds of 308! I was feeling very satisfied until I started to clean up my desk. As I was putting away the box of primers, I noticed they were Large Pistol primers! That was the day I ordered my Hornady collet bullet puller.
Mistakes happen to us all!
Last year, I got the fever for a 10mm pistol. I read a bunch of threads about heavy springs and custom barrels for full house loads. I ordered them, put the gun together and loaded some test rounds, from “warm to hot”. When I shot those hot loads, I put the gun down, wiggled my hand a bit and thought……..OUCH!

FWIW, a friend of mine did a similar thing- loaded up about 500 rds of 44 Mag ammo that ended up being really, really hot. Not exactly ideal as a first venture into that caliber.

Lesson learned to load 5 or 10 rounds and see how they perform before going whole hog into mass production. 4 or 9 are a lot easier to pull down than 499.

Collet puller is good, but doesn't work on pistol bullets that have little or no bearing surface (max bullet diameter) exposed, nor do they work very well on lead bullets. Hopefully yours will work on the loads you've got.
