New to 300 PRC, advise?

Hello folks. I am about to enter the world of 300prc. I'm having a rifle rebarreled for it. Any thoughts on components and loading?

I'm going for a do-all rifle, LR steel and hunting. Thinking 24-26" barrel, heavy contour, 1-8 or 1-8.5 twist for the heavier bullets. No real goals i suppose, but I like shooting at plates a long ways away.

H1000 and berger 215s

If you want them to scream n570, but it will shorten you barrel life. Fast and accurate though.

I have one that is spitting 199 hammers and n570 at 3175. 19 for 19 one shot kills out to 450 so far.

Here's what works great for me ... in my 300-PRC Barrett MRAD. Hard to beat the combination of Lapua, Retumbo, and Berger.

The 215s and H1000 with Lapua brass have performed consistently well in several rifles for me. They tune right around 2940 in 24" to 26" barrels.

Thanks. Been tossing around the idea of doing a 300 win mag or 300 prc when my 7-300 win mag barrel is toast. 180g ELDMs at 3100fps sure is nice though...

9 twist will be ideal. don't need 8-8.5 on the 300PRC IMO. unless you are going to venture into the Berger 245, then the 8.5 will get you there.

230 Berger and a full case of N570. My reamer is slightly different so loads wont be the same but just north of 82 grains, but work up to it. 250 cci primer and .005" nt in ADG brass hammered, Really small.

I'm using a Bartlein 9T in my 300 PRC and shooting the Berger 245 LRHT at 2880. It shoots great out to 2500 yards.

Have you noticed a difference in SDs between .005 NT and .002 NT?

I just based it on group size at 1kyds. At 600 both shot.

Thank you Alex. What twist rate have you had the best luck with? Also, what do you mean by .005 nt in?

Is the hornady 225 eld-m worth the time or should a guy stick with the 215 or 230 Bergers?
