New Teslong Model Coming

I got news that Teslong is releasing a new model of their outstanding borescope. The newest model has a rigid shaft with a scale with indicator which should solve the issues of centering the optics in the bore as well as allowing the user more precise control and indication of the location and positioning of the mirror. This new model is being shipped now and should be available at Amazon within the next week or so.
I have been offered one to evaluate but don't know when it will arrive. When it does I will give as thorough a review as I can...and maybe put my older model in the drawer!

About 5 years ago my Hawkeye got stolen. I finally replaced it this spring. Seeing the Teslong posts I was kinda wishing I had waited and saved a bunch of money. You're post makes me feel better.
 
Just to clarify my comment above, the Teslong borescope works quite well. As I stated, it has fantastic optics. It is also capable of taking pictures, something the Hawkeye does not do without a ridiculously expensive upgrade. Nonetheless, the Hawkeye is set up from the outset specifically to look at the bore. It rotates to give a 360 degree view of the bore without stressing or breaking any key wires that are critical to its function. It does not require a computer/phone/laptop or software for use. Finally, it can be focused while in use, and you can maintain that focus without the use of rubber O-rings (or similar) to position the lens apparatus in line with the bore axis. As much as I like the Teslong, especially when you consider the ridiculously low price as compared to the Hawkeye, I choose to reach for the Hawkeye when I want to inspect a bore.

As Teslong offers new versions of their borescope, I have no doubt its functionality will move closer to that of the Hawkeye, especially with the latest version that employs a rod-based camera instead of having to spin the camera and attached wire together as is the case with my original version unit. Of course, the price will go up as new functionalities are added, so the price differential will not be as great as with Teslong's original unit. Teslong is to be commended for having brought a functional borescope into a price range such that any shooter can afford to own one. Nonetheless, anyone that owns a Hawkeye should not bemoan the cost of the purchase, IMO. It is still the best borescope available, although you will pay a substantial price for the features it offers.
 
I feel moderately better now! The hawkeye bright, clear, and easy to use. The resolution is amazing. But man... $50!

In all seriousness, I wish I knew enough about optics to rig up a phone attachment to the Hawkeye. It's the only thing missing, and I can't justify their camera system's price tag.
 
The Hawkeye is last century's technology. Just like my flip phone. Built like a 1958 Buick, but outdated and will go the way of so many other things we have known. They may even command a premium when they are no longer made.

Using a 24" flat-panel to display my Teslong NTG-100 is my setup, and making dust collectors out of the other bore-scopes I have.
Have used it displayed on a 43" as well, which makes barrel inspection like watching a movie at the cinema !.!.!
With a 15" and a 17" LapTop for at the range/travel, beats the heck out of using a cell phone.
As inexpensive as the Teslong's are, plan on dedications as well (one for the shop, one for the office, one for travel, etc.).
Different models and more models to come, gives a lot of options.
Love the length, and being able to see the entire length of a barrel from one end.
Not much desire in going back to having my head down and eye squinted into an eye-piece any more.

I love the fact that a product came out with nearly the same viewing capability as the Hawkeye, for a much, much lower price. I would have never owned a borescope if it meant I had to part with $1K
 
Will do. I was asked in return to provide pictures and advise on ergonomic function, ease of use, ideas for improvement, etc. It is too bad, they are making us tools and don't have the access to firearms to test them on their own. Am I wrong here?

I have 15 trashed competition barrels I can't wait to show you. Between SSL and I, we got you covered.;)
