The Richard's Micro Fit stocks typically arrive in a fully inletted and machine cut shape with some rasp marks from hand work. Some stocks are what they call 90% inletted to fit less popular actions, but all stocks will require pillars and bedding if you so choose, and of course all the finish work.
If buying for the first time, I'd recommend using an electric palm sander to perform the finish sanding. This will save you many, many hours of what would otherwise be tedious hand sanding of the hardwood. I started with 80 grit to achieve the contour I wanted and finished out through 600 grit, and that took about 12 to 14 hours using the electric sander.
A bonus to using the electric sander was I stopped waking up in the middle of the night waving my hand back and forth while dreaming of hand sanding.
