New stock DTAC problems

Have almost depleted my old stock of bare DTACS (lot #1947) and have been trying unsuccessfully to get the new stock (lot # 9467) to shoot. Curious if anyone else has had problems. Its a 6SLR that consistently shoots 1/4 min. out to 300 and holds the x-ring @ 600. New stock is approx. .30 gr. lighter, .005 on ave. longer OAL, and bearing surface not very consistent but ave. is .005 longer, pressure ring diameter is just slightly. thinner. Meplats look identical and it appears new stock is just slightly longer and lighter and less consistent in all dimensions. Have tried many different seating depths of sorted and weighed bullets and they refuse to do anything under 3/4" @ 200yds. some loads might be close but always a flyer or scattered group. Velocities and ES/SD are virtually identical with the old loads. Old load with H1000 or 4831sc gave 2970', ES 5-10. Am I missing something cuz I'm almost out of options. Thanks, Eric in DL

I had the same problem 2 years ago.Tried everything and finally gave up and went with a another bullet. I know another person who could not get a new lot to shoot also.

I just finished sorting (bearing surface) 500 DTAC's and found two distinct groups about equally halved in the box. Not too bad, but what discouraged me the most was the meplates were jagged and had to be re -done to insure consistency. Not what I have come to expect in DTAC.

Where do you find the lot #? I don't see one on my plastic wrapped box of naked 6's. Thx----joe

Seems the problem lies with Sierra as they manufacture the DTACs for Tubb. They are supposed to be pointed now but I have not shot any in five or six years. Just went through 600 Sierra Palma bullets and had similar issues. Only use those for Mid-Range now...

I believe Sierra has always made the DTAC's for Tubbs and they've been pointed for some time now...almost a "closed nose" meplat. 6brmrshtr; I'd be curious to hear if your new stock shoots as well as old stock. The meplats on my new stock are not that bad and no trimming needed as I only use them for midrange. They sort out fine but it seems like they have internal differences that create odd groups or flyers?? I'd love to have access to a Juenke to spin some and see what it tells me? I'll experiment a bit more and then call it lesson learned for ordering large quantities before I test out a lot. Good luck, Eric in DL
