new sightron scope

hi everyone,

on Saturday I sent a post on the new sightron 10x50x60 and was told it should be out by Christmas and thats great I shoot 500yd bench rest and really enjoy this type of shooting. I'm retired from a pa paper mill and now I can start to really enjoy this sport. I ask the question on the Sightron scope only because I would like to get one when they are available. I would like to know what you fellows think of them? I have a friend who has a 36power sightron and it shoots very well and tracks very well. I've been told to get a night force but I would really like to go with the sightron. I have two 36power weavers with boosters but I would like to go with more power and larger bell for more light. These old eyes need all the help they can get. Also how is there warranty work this means a lot when getting a new scope.Would like to hear from you guys and gals on what you think. thank you all so much

Have a great and safe holiday

Sorry no one has answered your post yet.
I have 3 sightrons the lens are excellent.
One problem in the past was holding zero. {mushey clicks}
Some pepole had screws put in to help it hold zero.
Warrenty work is ok like the weavers.
I'm not sure on this new one.
Only time will tell on this one.
I would hold off till i had more imput.

FWIW - I just called Sightron to find out about this scope for myself, the person I spoke with told me it will be January when the scope comes out.

The Sightron SIII 8-32x56 I've got on one of my LR prone rifles is infinitely clearer, sharper, & brighter than any of the 36x BR scopes that were available 15-20yrs. ago. Tracking/repeatability has also been excellent.

Personally, I don't feel the need for more power than this scope provides, although there are plenty of shooters who're obviously willing to pay the price to get into a NF 12-42. Since I haven't even seen one of the new 10-50 scopes yet - much less looked through one - I have no objective opinions as to whether I'd be willing to part with the $$$ to get into one or not. Unless I make it to Vegas for SHOT 2010 and can lay hands on one of the new super-scopes there, I'm going to plead the old "ignorance is bliss" defense and stick with the SIII 8-32x56.

Right now Sightron is at the top of list. Clicked anywhere from 30 MOA to 20 MOA many times today then back to 0. Rifle was still dead on,scope bounced around all day in my truck.

Glad to hear they fixed their tracking problems.
The lens are really great.
I really like my 4 36x sII scopes .

I had a call in to sightron to inquire about these. It looks like an incredible piece of glass, and was supposed to be available in the new year.. midway has them on their site, availability date set for the 15th.

I'm looking to have SWFA beat the Natchez price as they advertise. We'll see what happens. I can get the 8-32 from Natchez for $717.00 to my door. Hey, if I can get if for $10.00 less, why not. Its all a game.

Just got an email from SWFA. Quote was $702.00 to my door for the Sightron SIII 8-32X 56MM Dot. Sale at Natchez goes to March 31st, so I guess SWFA will honor their ad and beat by 10% of the difference. Every penny helps these days.

FWIW- The 6x24 Sightron SIII LR has 100 minutes of elevation, a fair amount more than the 8x32 depending on what distances you plan to shoot
