New Sightron 36X ED target scope/ looking for reviews

Looking at this scope as it seems to be the best value. 100-300 yds for score shooting. Interested in how it resolves .224 holes in the black at 300 yds. Also a comparison to the same scope 45X.

Best I can tell the 45 and 36X ED models are the same size and cost the same. I went with the 45x and love it so far. Mirage is not as much of a problem as I thought it would be. Dunno about seeing .22 holes in the black @ 300.

RKS,

I believe your comments are about the older 36x S11 competition. There is a recent introduction by Sightron of a 36x version of the 45x S111 Competition ED which I suspect the OP is referring to. Price is the same as are the dimensions. Check out the website.

Good luck in seeing .22 holes in the black at 300 yds. I can't even do that reliably with my Pentax 15-60 x 80mm spotting scope on a hot summer day due to the mirage. If you want to see in-the-black .22 holes at anything over 200 yds., especially on a hot, muggy day get a camera system.

If you find a rifle scope that'll spot .22 holes in the black at 300 yds, let me know, will you? It'll be a first for me. Maybe on a cool, dry, mirage-free morning, I dunno. I've never had one of those that I can remember.

For our 300yd fclass matches the targets are not marked and scored after every shot, only at the end on the 20 shot string. We place a bright chartreuse board approx 4ft behind the black target and the shot holes stand out.

A month ago I purchased a new 45X45 Ed from Lance on this board. I mounted it on my Anschutz 1413 and shot one 100 yd. outdoor F-class match with it (took 3rd in my class). I am extremely please! The glass is very good. Great value for the money! Order it from Lance, significantly cheaper than anywhere else and faster delivery.

I never thought of that perspective, I feel for you guys. Where I live the only time I deal with Mirage is early morning in the spring, the rest of the time.... never see it.

Love mine that I got from Lance.

You can clearly see the mirage but it doesn't muddy up the target image, which is exactly what you want.

Good shootin' -Al

I couldn't agree more. I received one just like it this PM and couldn't be happier (well, I probably will be happier when I get a chance to actually use it). Great price, fine scope and terrific dealer!.
