I am wondering if a new reloading manual is available from Sierra yet? if so, anyone know where I may find one? thanks,

Ron Tilley

That’s good news! I hope they pay attention to the popular calibers that are discussed on this forum, and list as many powder and primer choices that are currently available.

I imagine it will be like all manuals, top loads not reaching areas many competitive shooters start at. So, no better or worse than what's out there.

but there should be more cartridges in the new one versus my old ones. That is why I am asking.

Speer is a perfect example of top loads not really obtaining maximum load data. Comparing Speer with Hodgdon, the shortcomings of the data is evident. Just one example; the maximum load data in speer for 150 grain bullets for a 270WSM is 56.5. Hodgdon using the same criteria list the maximum load at 60 grains, 3.5 grains higher than Speer's maximum.

I agree for the most part but every once in a while Hodgdon data does not reflect my load work up. For example I am trying Lil' Gun in my .22 Hornet w/ 40gr. bullets. Hodgdon's load starts at 12 gr. and max.'s at 13. The Hornady manual (as their's are the bullets I am using) starts at 10 gr. and stops about 11.7. My max load ended up at 11.2 gr. as 11.5 was too hot. I realize this is all tied in with whose case, primer and bullets are involved. That's why we DON'T use other folks loads in our rifles as the differences are too numerous.
I DO love the Hodgdon site though!

The manual finally arrived and in good shape. A couple of observations - they have some data for: (i) newer cartridges with newer powders (e.g., 6mm Creedmoor and RE16), and (ii) nearly obsolete cartridges with newer powders (e.g., 240 Wby with RE16). This updated edition was way overdue.
