New shooting bench

The more you play with these, the more you will find a cutout is a mistake. No where for elbows..a rectangular bench puts you more in line with the stock. Sitting to side effects cheekweld..just my opinion. I have built several. My first bench.

I like your bench. rubber top is a great idea.

The guy that made these legs is gone, He had pics of a VW on top of the table - Rugged Buddy.
I'm guessing he got "lawyered" out of business

I have a set of those on my most used bench, and it’s just because it is so easy to grab and set up.

I agree with x47Mike about the cutout being a mistake.

I just finished repainting my table and changed out a few parts. I got the Caldwell base from a pawn shop very cheap. The guy didn't know what it was or how long he had it. I used a trailer hub for the rotation, very very smooth rotation.

The top is the best part, this is not my idea, but from another member here known as powderbrake. The top wraps around you a little and there's plenty of elbow room on both sides. The picture below is mine and the other picture is of Jerry (powderbrake) sitting at his table.

This is my behemoth built with the same leg bracket kit.

60” long by 48” wide. Four 1.5” galvanized rigid metal conduit legs, rear two are height adjustable with 3/4” screw feet and jam nuts and front are set up to accept height adjustment screws if ever needed. Front legs have a 62” wide footprint on the ground. Very robust 2x6 treated lumber frame with 1.5” glued and screwed plywood top (3” total thickness including frame). Designed to shoot from the rear so it works for left and right handed shooters equally well. Also incorporated a cable and turnbuckle system that can be adjusted from the rear shooting position once the legs are in the dirt. It is the most stable portable shooting bench I have ever shot from and TONS of room to handle the largest rifles and rests out there.

Yeah I am not a fan of cutaways either. Built my first couple benches that way and never really liked them. No offense intended to the OP or others but it really isn’t a very good design.

My latest one in my last post designed to shoot from the rear is so much better and more comfortable plus ambidextrous

Had some well seasoned scrap lying about and a couple of hours ,so I cobbled an ambidextrous Temp bench . Now just waiting for sutures to be removed in couple of weeks ,after having major surgery Wed. . So until then My Dr. told Me I Must Behave Myself !.

Then the plan is ASAP I finish our 12x40 BBQ area. Where I'll use #3 sonatubes with a Tee table configuration . Incorporating a monolithic concrete pour of base pad, column cage rebar leg structure , ( similar to freeway column support construction ) Then tied into a Wooden framed rebar mesh Tee table . I'll have a #50 Yd. straight pistol and 600 Yd Left Rifle range configuration plus a super stable prep table area . In addition to a 6 ft. horizontal fence using our local mill's flitch offs . Thus surrounding said facility aka the BBQ enclosure ,

I have been wanting a stable yet portable shooting bench for a few years now. I recently built this one and it’s perfect for my needs. I bought the leg kit from a member on here. I estimated the dimensions based on a sheet of plywood. I can make three of these from two 4x8 sheets of 1/2” pressure treated. A buddy of mine is a cabinet maker he helped me screw, glue and clamped the top. Then I put three coats of spar varnish on and my wife added the black rubberized top coating. I could build 3 for about $240
Possible for a pic of underside attach points? Nice
