new scope

Be a scope snob if you wish. The scope fits the OP's stated budget/light duty application and is pretty decent for the money. Of course there are better scopes, but your ranting serves no productive purpose relative to the original question. Do you have an actual constructive suggestion or is "drive by" posting your normal modus operandi?

My "constructive suggestion" is that stuff costs, and that $149 won't buy any kind of quality 6-24x44 scope unless maybe it's used. Being even more "constructive"...... my suggestion is to not buy anything BSA. But I'm just a scope snob.

BSA...works a little, then quits. Been there, done that. No snobbery, just my experience. Now and then a Weaver T-10 Steel will pop up, and even though old, sometimes they can turn out ok. (sometimes not). Expect a good deal at $250 Not the best glass, but I have two and they track great, even after 30 years. I pass on the T16...too dull image. The newer Japanese T scope is ok, but the dot is NEVER the size they say it is...always seems too big.

I reiterate...spend a little more or save a little longer, buy a 6-18 Leupold VX2 with target knobs used. About $400 is fair. Uses old VX3 glass treatment, and work very well. Nothing fancy, just works. And has lifetime warranty from American company that has not moved a dozen times and does not have customer service outsourced to India. Nothing worse than a scripted "answer" from a flip chart from someone who has never seen a scope, let alone used one.

hey, just had a thought...why not a Weaver V16? I see them used often and they run in the ballpark price. Ok, so not 24X, but we are talking 223. No mildot, but a duplex, when learned, can offer some great ranging and some "hold-off" options. I have used a T10 to a bit under 600 yards on woodchucks, and managed ok. Whapped a crow at 529 last year with it. The V series does not have the Micro-trac, but again, not totally necessary, and not mentioned in the post. Check Rimfire Central and Varmints Den forum classifieds for some great guys and decent deals for the likes of this suggestion. Hope this helps or sheds some additional light,

Snert

Geez, the guy just wants to spend 200 bucks. I'm guessing he's already got enough info to make his choice,,
,,and much to the shagrin of all the lupey owners in the world, a $400 lupey is not the alpha and the omega.
And it 200 more than the 200 he wants to spend. ::)

There have been alot of $200 scopes that have taken alot of game for alot of years

I run a BSA platnum target scope 6-24x44/ BSA tactical SF scope 6-24 x44, 30mm tube & a Nikon 6-18x49 SF scope.
The Nikon did run me $280 when it was on sale, the BSAs were both under $200.
