I recently bought a new 42 x 44 fixed power scope for a 22 rimfire bench rest rifle I have (Turbo V1 action, Muller 7 groove barrel, Harrell's tuner, Jewell trigger ,Lidgard stock, harrells offset 30 mm rings). I removed a NF 15-55 scope I had been using on the gun, put the new scope on, leveled it with the base on the receiver and then reinstalled the ring tops @ 18 inch/lbs. Ring tops went back on just as they came off
Took the gun out to zero it at 50 yards and discovered that I didn't have enough left windage for a zero.
Additional info:
The scope is a new in the box from a large distributor.
The scope is a discontinued model.
The scope rings were not removed from the rifle nor were they re-positioned from where they were set with the NF 15-55.
I bought the rings new from Harrels when I bought the rifle about 18 months ago.
The rings have never been lapped or modified.
I checked the left windage on the 15-55 and was able to rotate the knob 276 clicks (.125 moa/click, 34.5 moa) left before I ran out of left windage. The 15-55 was put in the safe exactly as it came off the rifle last Saturday.
Thoughts?
