Even the F-TR would be more suitable, in the opinion of someone who has never shot F-Class, with the standard BVSS stock.
Maybe some of you who have "contacts" at Savage could suggest they used the "competition" stock. Doesn't seem as though it would be incur any new tooling costs for them.
Also, I applaud Savage for these rifles. They have some shortcomings as we can all point out, but at least Savage is trying. These two rifles are a good step that just needs a little refining and some supportive input that might allow them to address some of the needs without having to market a $4,000 custom rifle. Who else is even making an attempt to supply factory equipment for serious shooting?
The 3" wide foreend on the "ugly mutha" stock is superb. Not sure how they came up with the butt design, though. Whoever makes the stocks for Savage could surely program their router to make a straight-bottom Tracker-style stock with far less design work than this thing has.
I think that if there is a company who is willing to bring out rifles that are this close to what is needed, then the competitive shooting community should support, suggest, and encourage. These Savages are on the cusp of being factory-built competition rifles, something that has been absent since the early days of Remington's involvement. Kudos to Savage!
