New Rimx BBL action

I have never said the Rimx was a bad action. I have one i could not get the Proof barrel to shoot. I am having 2 other barrels fitted for it. All i have to do all day almost eveyday is shoot 22s. But when some one comes along and tells people that a new action is the Apex of 22 repeaters . And is shooting in the 1s off of a bipod and bag i have to question it. Hell i have never seen him shoot. Maybe he is shooting in the ones. If he is i am wrong in many ways. As far as being bias i could be i have bought 9 Vudoos. I have grandkids. But i am giving the rimx my full attention. I am having barrels fitted by smiths that only do rimfires. What i believe is the rimx could be a top or might be a top rimfire repeater. Only time will tell. In all of my post about the rimx i never said it was bad. I did say that i didnt like the lenght on the firing pin. But that is my view. I see no reason your action cant be a player in the market. Your center fire seems to be on point. But with all things new you learn what works and why. And change to improve

looks to me like they have for 1600
You should check a little deeper into the MHSA "deal". They have ZERO RH 22LR BA's in any configuration . They have ONE LH version with 16.5" barrel and the only RH option is for 17 Mach 2.
I guess you could ask @RAVAGE88 when more will be shipped to MHSA for that sale price promo?
I would be interested in his comments.

Let me clarify that nobody at Zermatt is claiming that. I do believe the RimX is a winner, but if you install a turd barrel, it will shoot like a turd. The RimX is not designed to be a benchrest gun, it's a repeater.

In the last couple years on the internet I have seen some miraculous groups shot with 22, in real life under real conditions I don't see them. A good friend brought 3 rifle down to the Lapua facility in AZ and we met for lunch after to look at the results. There were considerable swings in performance simply in different lots of the exact same ammo. Lot #13 of CenterX was out of this world in all 3 guns. Ammo has and will always be how the game is won or lost.

FWIW, I will be buying a RimX action. Almost all my rifles are already Bighorns and I have been running them for a very long time. Zermatt is a great company that makes good products.
Your point on ammo and lot to lot performance is spot on. I would not believe it until I tried shooting some BR50/50 with a Remington 541T HB I owned once. The gun was straight up stock with exception of a nicely modified trigger and I shot several low .1" groups at 50 yards with it. I was placing near the top at matches right away and began to think I was "the stuff". Then, that wonder lot of Midas was depleted. It took my ego with it!
It was years before I ever decided to go shoot any kind of 22LR match again. Guess what? Ammo is still a crap shoot!!!

Shoot4fun i like you name. Its what we do. Shoot for fun. We all know there is no money in it. If your doing it for money YOU WILL GO BROKE

Check my signature line. Surprisingly, there can be a very good bit of doing for money. :D

I just shoot it dont hardly ever sale. I have 9 grand kids they get it before i get bored with it. But i would rather them have it.

Ammo for sure matters, but the barrel and chamber is where it decides which ammo or lot will shoot.

as you said a turd barrel will not make it. what I see in this new rifle is the possibility of indexing the barrel, being it will more then likely be shot without a tuner. if you could shoot at all points on a clock and see where the barrel shot the best and be able to lock it in place at the best spot, would you want to be able to do that? I see that possibility unlike anything else out there.

I've never owned a high end 22lr so I'm legitimately asking because I simply don't know, but for those of you with these high end 22's, what do you do with them? Do you pretty much just spend all your time at the 50yd line punching paper or do you use them for other things and if so, what?

FWIW, I'm not trying to create a shit storm or stir up any problems. I'm genuinely just curious what y'all do with these types of guns. If nobody responds, I'll understand or if you'd like to PM me instead of posting here, that's fine too. Like I said, I'm just curious is all.

No truer words Lee. However, I approach the complete rifle as a system. While the action is important as it relates to the level of consistency in which it does what it does, the ammo, chamber and barrel are the "sub-system" that makes a lot of what you want to see happen downrange.

B23, In my case I shoot RFBR 50 & 100yds. the rifle in this discussion is intended for a discipline that is very different from BR. but the requirements for accuracy is the same, barrel, chamber and ammo. now put in the correct package/setup you should have a very accurate rifle.

Mike, I emphasized barrel, chamber and ammo as this is probably the most important. things like ignition, trigger, stock bedding, etc. is or should be a given. yes the system as a whole needs to work together in the end, but you need the foundation first to build up from.
my 55-year old Anschutz is a good example, factory action, but with a really good barrel, that was chambered twice (once for Eley and now for Lapua) by a really good smith named Evelio McDonald in Texas.

He's doing the Orkan thing with the help of one of his disciples over on Sniper's Hide, as it appears the olive branch didn't last any longer than the first one I extended. I'm sure he'll be along shortly....

You're absolutely correct Lee, we agree on this. What you're stating is the reason we won't use just any barrel and it's why my chamber is part of the equation, which is designed around good ammo.

Im sure Orkan will come along and set us all right with his groups in the 1s. lets all wait and see what he has to say. we have to give it to him. He has a repeater shot off of a bipod and bags better than most

Oh I'm certain he'll expect us to pay homage to him, I mean, he IS Orkan....

Well, I'm generally not an A-hole and I won't hold it against you :D, but's he's made a declaration that I won't ignore this time. He's wants to play ridiculous games, ok, I'll play....
