New Rimx BBL action

I just seen where the new Rimx barrel actions will cost 2200 from Orkan. Question is are they better than a Vudoo at 1600. If you get one please let us know.

The RimX actionis from Zermatt (formerly Bighorn Arms). They make great stuff and are good people. https://www.rimxaction.com/

You can have anybody barrel it. Zermatt will provide the action spec. Pic a barrel, pic a smith and have fun. There are a lot of good rimfire smiths out there. One advantage of the RimX is it's easier to chamber than a traditional 22. Those Keystone barrels might shoot, but don't complain when they don't. I would save money in different places.

If you need Gunsmith recommendations, I'm sure lot of guys could chime in. I can give you a few too. I personally wouldn't buy a #2 pencil from Orkan.

Lothar-Walther offers barrels for $399... Altus for $449... Southern Precision sales RimX Actions and the sell barrel, so the should be able to spin up a barrel... There are options.. Also Bison Tactical. Other options are out there if you so desire..

This from Southern Precision last week:
Action $1150
Shilen $350
Chamber $350
Trigger $270
Shipping $40

We're running 4 months on build presently. If you want the muzzle threaded it's +$100.

That is $2270 for a Rim-X BA with a TT Diamond trigger.
The most recent Vudoo I bought was special order direct from Vudoo. Lisa took my order and Greg called to confirm the details. The total, including Sniper Gray Ceracote, 30 MOA base, MTU contour threaded at 22" AND four magazines was $1870 to my FFL holder. It arrived in 3 WEEKS (not 4 months).
Don't get me wrong here. I'm not disparaging Greg at all. They do fine work and follow up with great CS. His lead time makes me wonder just how long all these companies offering pre-fit Rim-X barrels are going to take to get it done and in your hands.

Nobody is claiming that... And he doesn't chamber rifles either. Travis at TS Customs (Stud Gunsmith and good guy) chambered that barrel.

Let me clarify that nobody at Zermatt is claiming that. I do believe the RimX is a winner, but if you install a turd barrel, it will shoot like a turd. The RimX is not designed to be a benchrest gun, it's a repeater.

In the last couple years on the internet I have seen some miraculous groups shot with 22, in real life under real conditions I don't see them. A good friend brought 3 rifle down to the Lapua facility in AZ and we met for lunch after to look at the results. There were considerable swings in performance simply in different lots of the exact same ammo. Lot #13 of CenterX was out of this world in all 3 guns. Ammo has and will always be how the game is won or lost.

FWIW, I will be buying a RimX action. Almost all my rifles are already Bighorns and I have been running them for a very long time. Zermatt is a great company that makes good products.
