New rifle suggestions

Looking at getting a new 22LR rifle to replace Remington 121. It seems that peeps or scopes have become mandatory equipment for me. I’m left handed so semi or pump or lever would probably fit the bill. Squirrel hunting and general use. Don’t need more cartridge, have 22 hornet for that. Looking for opinions based on use. Not too heavy, headshot accuracy preferred. Family friendly. Thanks in advance!

I wonder how hard it would be to find? Sako /tikka stuff is usually quite impressive. Finding cz or even savage bolts in left hand is like finding chicken teeth

I was going to suggest a Ruger American rimfire I've got good results with mine but Ruger doesn't make a left handed model. I didn't get good results with my savage mark II's. A b-22 maybe. The mark II's tended to be finicky about which ammo would extract.

I recommend a Henry lever action .22.

These guns are quite accurate, you can scope them if you wish
they come with a lovely walnut stock and are made in USA.
I didn't see that they make a leftie version, but a lever gun can
be used by either hand.

16.5 Inch Left Hand TIkka

20 Inch Left Hand Tikka

I have a Ruger American, a Tikka 20", and an Anschutz 1416 HB. The Ruger is what I throw on the tractor or side by side as I don't care if it gets beat up and I use it for varmint critters, 50 yds and under. It does not compare in the least way to the Tikka or Anschutz. The stock is flimsy and I haven't found any ammunition that makes it shoot well. I bought it for a beater.

I don't shoot competition as there is nothing near me (and I would embarrass myself). My Tikka and Anschutz are equally very capable of eggs at 200 yds and that with regular old Norma Tac. I wouldn't even try it with the Ruger.

How about a Remington pump from back in the day? Or an old Stevens 44 style, say a 414 or a 44 1/2 with a tang sight? Don't be ordinary...

Not a 'light weight', but my Miroku built 1885 Winchester surprises and delights me every time I shoot it. Shooting 'black box' TAC-22. I'M A LEFTY~!

Being left-handed, as I am, I wonder if you have ever shot a left-handed bolt gun? After decades of shooting right-handed rifles, I acquired a few left-handed rifles (and had one made). Switching to a left-handed rifle has not been easy for me at all. If I could go back, I'd have bought right-handed rifles. If you are new shooter, entirely different story. The pump with other than right ejection might serve you best. If you can put a quality red dot sight on it - all the better for squirrels. My eyes have degraded, and I rarely shoot open sights on rifles anymore. Might check out the Volquartson semi's for accuracy.
