New Rifle, Please help

I have just aquired a 308 with a slow twist barrel for a good price. I didn't know it at the time of purchase that it was a 1/15" twist. The gun has a benchrest stock on it, blueprinted remington 700 short action and a 24" Lija 6 groove heavy barrel that my smith borescoped and said it hasn't been shot more that 20 rnds. I wanted a long range F/TR rifle, but the deal was so good, I couldn't pass it up. I don't know whether to shoot it, or pull the barrel and start from scratch. I wouldn't even know what bullet weights to use. Benchrest is not a game I am in a financial or mental place to start. I have everything else for F/TR. Please help.

I think it will shoot the SMK 155's pretty spiffy. Give them a try and see if they don't shoot well for you.

I would try a few bullets in the 155 class first and if those don't work sell it. Worst case is you loose the money in the barrel but you said it is a complete gun on a trued rem700, so you still make out on the deal better than if you had done the same yourself.

Thank you for the replies. I am going to try some Sierra 155 Palma and some nosler 155 custom comp. I'll let y'all know how I make out.
