New rifle for me from an old Walt Berger action.

I bought this from Brunos about 2 years ago, from Walt bergers estate. It was a new old stock sako single shot L579 aii action. I had a McMillan br50 stock inletted and bedded from St Arbor customs. It's got a m24 krieger barrel chambered in wheeler 6BRA. I recently got it back and put a older LRP leupold scope on it. Looking forward to taking it to Ben Avery to shoot some paper and steel. I just wanted to share my new toy.

My wife enjoyed shooting it today. First real time I've taken it out. I loaded 27.8 of h4895 with berger 105s and 450 primers. Lapua brass. Was getting alittle extra on bolt lift. It was running 2725 fps. I'd like to try n140 or re15.5 next. No feedback from the targets as we were at the steel range at ben avery. Although it wasn't to hard to run the K.Y.L rack at 430 yards. Just wanted to fireform some and have a good time with the Mrs. Hope you all have a happy new year.

I LOVE owning firearms with provenance. I feel like a caretaker, not a materialist, if that makes any sense.

That stock looks a lot like a MCM Anschutz silouhette stock. I have one and if my daughter (who borrows my guns) were not a lefty, I would have it on one now. I love them.

Great to see a couple shoot together. Way to go! Happy New year and I will look forward to more write ups.

And some details Coots are ? Looks nice.

I won this rifle in a raffle at the Nationals in Holton several years ago. It came with an 8tw Shilen in 6BR. Ferris made the action and bolt and put it in a thumbhole stock. I had a used PPC barrel somehow I scrounged up and had it threaded to fit. It shoots great, vaporized dogs with it last year. Plenty of old brass on hand too.

I was fortunate to spend an evening with Ferris two years in a row at the Legacy Inn while at the Supershoot. Several of the other shooters in the room those years are no longer with us. Great conversations, people, memories. He said the 90 grain bullets he shot from it were POISON........
