I think your choice of 6 BR is hard to question. I've never worked with 243 Win but the guys I know who have say it's persnickety.
As an aside, an uncle of mine was told after heart surgery to seek lower recoil. He switched to 243 Win and meat-hunted cow elk with it in his N. Idaho region, quite satisfactorily.
