New reamer question for 6 Dasher

Now that I have heard enough about manufactures..... I have read all over the place about the 6 Dasher and dimensions. What are the key sizes to tell the reamer maker to make? Shooting the heavy bullets (104gr and up) in 8 twist barrels? I know this has been gone over prior but please enlighten me. I have heard from 100 to 150 free bore...with 135 being the one that comes up more often than not. So, what’s that recommendation? What about the neck diameter for blue box Lapua? I would want to do clean up neck turn. Neck length 1.560”? Or something else entirely? What other dimensions do I need to tell them I need? Please explain the pros and cons of the dimensions given !!
Not trying to re-invent the wheel…but rather get the best info I can since this round has been around for awhile and the kinks should be worked out by now.
Thank you again !!

This is second hand for me but I heard it from a very good gunsmith that if you call these various manufacturers and ask their suggestions, they can be very helpful and knowledgeable. Perhaps call a couple and cross reference their info before ordering would be a suggestion if you haven't already.
Best Wishes

Here is what I have.........

Necks turned to .011

.011+.011+.243=.265+.002(for clearance)=.267

.267 neck diameter
.135 freebore
1.560 case length

Works real nice for me.....

I am running close to Phil specks on my necks .010 to .011 with 266 neck. but free bore is 104. have used this reamer on several Dashers and have shot the 105 Berger BT targets, 108 BT targets an sierra 107's with very good luck. Have had my reamer for several years now and a lot of people like the longer free bore but the 104 will work and can chase the lands a little longer. I wish I knew how many rounds are through my wife's rifle and it will still put 5 rounds on a calm day at 400 yards in .5''. Just telling you what I have and works for me. She has out shot me and several other people on this form with it.

I am running a .268 chamber in my 2 Dashers with .124 freebore and 1.560 chamber length. Same reamer cut both chambers. I bought a reamer off of a fellow forum member for my sons Dasher and it is a .269 neck with .135 freebore and 1.560 chamber length. Easier to set up the neck turner for an uneven number chamber diameter, as my .268 necked chamber's loaded round is .266 which is .0115 neck thickness.

Next reamer I order will be similar to Phils specs as in a .267 chamber with 1.560 chamber length and .124 freebore. I would stay on the smaller side of the freebore as in .124 or shorter as you will chase the lands. A starting point of .135 freebore may be a tad long. On my first Dasher with exactly 617 rounds thru it as of right now I was measuring 1.688 with Sinclair tool to the lands with Berger 105H and after 617 rounds I am at 1.701 to the lands.

I run a ptg 6 dasher reamer set up for no turn using the blue box brass. .2704 neck and .125 freebore and this seems to be perfect using the 105 hybrids.

I forgot to mention that I`m shooting the 105 Amax bullet in mine.

I`m not sure how it compares in length to other bullets but some "specialty" bullets might be better off with a shorter freebore.........

Thankyou !!
On a side note I measured two different lots of the same bullets... My older lot measures .24385" averaged between 5 boxes. My new lot measures .24315" averaged out of another 5 boxes. Will that make any measurable difference with reamer dementions?
Thanx again

Why not ask eggman on the forum here , that's Rodney Wagner world record holder at 600 yards .336 group ;)

I use Kiff's "World Record" Dasher reamer. .2704" neck, 1.560 chamber and 104" freebore.

It has proven to be an F-Class winner for me using 105 Hybrids, YMMV.

Ya, it makes it hard to spec a reamer when bullets vary .001 in diameter. I think if your gonna shoot bergers you need a couple barrels with different reamers for each new lot.

Considering my blow length issues with the blue box, I'm thinking of shortening the neck a bit on my next reamer to end up with 1.545-1.550 case length. I've only cut three dasher chambers so I'm no expert, but of the three, the one that fire forms the best still only blows about 1.545". (320 grit chamber polish, thanks Johara/Dmoran) The worst of the three is lucky if I get 1.532" The carbon ring gets pretty thick in a hurry on that one. .
