I aquired a Stiller TAC30 single shot, and had a 25 3/4" Bartlein 12 twist 22BR barrel set up for a Remington 700, so I decided to put that barrel in the lathe and fit it to the new Stiller. I had sold my 22BR reamer so I had a new plan. After taking .062" off the tenon, recutting the .705" bolt recess, and bringing the trued 700 tenon diameter down to 1.062", recutting the threads, I got my 22BRDX reamer out, fitted it with proper pilot, and ran it in to fit with 22/6BR headspace gauge with light crush. This chamber max OAL was 1.532" since the BRDX reamer was run in short. I trimmed brass to 1.528" because it will shorten some fire forming. I got this all done yesterday 6/23 so I will be looking forward to fireforming this weekend. The case will be a 22BR-AI with shorter neck than 22BR with a final case length of 1.520". I am hoping for stellar performance on varmints out to 350 yds, and hopefully with the 53 grain V-Max. The barrel has a brake I bought here from john11/87. I did make a modification to his brake and cut a 60 degree angle inside, for more area for the pressure wave to hit. Some shooters here started this and it does make a difference.
