New Project just for Fun

I aquired a Stiller TAC30 single shot, and had a 25 3/4" Bartlein 12 twist 22BR barrel set up for a Remington 700, so I decided to put that barrel in the lathe and fit it to the new Stiller. I had sold my 22BR reamer so I had a new plan. After taking .062" off the tenon, recutting the .705" bolt recess, and bringing the trued 700 tenon diameter down to 1.062", recutting the threads, I got my 22BRDX reamer out, fitted it with proper pilot, and ran it in to fit with 22/6BR headspace gauge with light crush. This chamber max OAL was 1.532" since the BRDX reamer was run in short. I trimmed brass to 1.528" because it will shorten some fire forming. I got this all done yesterday 6/23 so I will be looking forward to fireforming this weekend. The case will be a 22BR-AI with shorter neck than 22BR with a final case length of 1.520". I am hoping for stellar performance on varmints out to 350 yds, and hopefully with the 53 grain V-Max. The barrel has a brake I bought here from john11/87. I did make a modification to his brake and cut a 60 degree angle inside, for more area for the pressure wave to hit. Some shooters here started this and it does make a difference.

Tim,

I have a 12 twist 28" Krieger that is chambered in 22 BRDX for the 53 vmax, I was looking for the 4000 neighborhood.......

I just need to get my lunch money saved for the Nightforce to go on top....

Phil.

Very nice gun! That is a great looking varminter, I really like the components. Please let us know how the groups are and velocity and what bullet it likes the best.

Of course the rig looks good but it's late and I haven't eaten yet so the snax look good too.;) :p. Gonna warm up some chicken livers and or ribs.....

I've not heard about an 11* crown and a 60* brake, is that supposed to reduce recoil? Could you give some details?

A shooter here came up with the 60* inside combined with the 11 degree crown, I just kept hearing him say how much better it was to reduce recoil. I guess I am kin to folks from Missouri, had to see for myself, you have to know the guy to know my meaning, but it is a better design. I have a brake on a 284 Shehane I did the modification to. Before and after needs to be seen to believe. Easily an extra 15 to 20% reduction.

Well braved the heat and got 52 pieces of brass fireformed, nice thing about the AI is no false shouldering just load and shoot. Before and after picture. I had a 12 shot string go into a .596" group. 28.4 H322 and 60 gr Hornady HP -.010" WSR primers.
Going to anneal, sonic clean, size and prime for load work next. I am thinking 3 bullets the 52 A-Max, 53 V-Max and the 50 gr Nosler BT.
