New Problem

So here is the issue I was trying to go out to a 1000 with the 308 and it wasn't happening, so after watching and speaking to those who where doing it like it was a walk in the park I decided to purchase a new rifle. I went with the Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmore. Here is my problem. I want to put a NXS 12-42x56 on it but I have no idea what ring height I need?
Anyone using this set up and can help a shooter out?

Getting to 1000 yards with an Savage F-TR in .308 is, if not a walk in the park, at least fairly simple. Use the right bullet and put in enough powder. I've been competing alongside a number of shooters who use just that rifle and they do make it look like a walk in the park.

The 6.5 Creedmoor (notice the spelling) was designed for the long range and will get to 1000 yards from the Ruger RPR with its 24 inch barrel fairly easily. The NXS has a 62mm diameter bell, so your ring should be over 31mm in height at the middle, so something like 1.5 inch or some such from bottom of the ring to the middle.

On a RPR I have the Seekins Precision 1.45" height rings ('AR" height) for a 30mm tube Swarovski X5 (63mm bell diameter) and it has clearance to slip on a scope cover. I highly recommend the Seekins rings. Whatever you do DON'T get a Burris P.E.P.R. mount. It will flex during recoil...from personal experience:rolleyes:. I have one I could give you but you have to give me a reason to dislike you enough first;).
