New primer manufacturer coming

Direct to consumer would be nice, but that might take a little more effort to set up shipping to handle thousands of small orders from consumers. They're only going to be a 3 hour drive from Midway. Might be smart to let them be a big distributor to start out. Focus on production first.

This ^^

But, if I had to choose a retailer, I'd choose someone other or at least in addition to Midway. Midway has come to really like their markups.

Hi all. I am the CEO of National Primers. We have purchased 200 acres of land from the city of Litchfield. You all have it figured out. I spoke with many republican controlled states and what we found was that they are being flooded with new companies moving into their states weekly. They don't need to offer much in the way of incentives. Large tracks of land are insanely expensive in most of these states. Litchfield is near Winchester and other ammunition producers. We went there for the land at a fair price, reasonable incentives and the labor pool. It is a normal rural farming area much like the one I grew up in. They need jobs as much as anyone. I started all of this because I am a reloader the same as most of you. I was mad that primers and ammo just keeps going up in price. I could write a book on why this happens and why it isn't going to stop anytime soon. The only way to move prices down is to have more independent production. This project is very expensive, over 60 million. We, like everyone, must balance what we need versus what we want to have in terms of production. We expect to produce 2.1 billion primers at full capacity. We have plans to double that in a few years. That should make us the largest primer producer in the US. We are going to have an R&D lab onsite with the ability to mass produce the energetics materials and place them into nearly any kind of container. There is a real need for energetics for drones and drone defense. We also want to continuously improve our own energetics so we can make the best possible primers in the industry. Thanks all and feel free to reach out to me if you have questions. I am just a shooter, hunter, reloader guy like you. God Bless.
Look forward to trying your product. Will we have to wait for them to hit store shelves or purchase direct?

My SWAG is handloaders are a tiny sliver of the overall market for small arms primers.
I would bet so in recent years you would be correct
I also believe it comes down to price and availability of parts
---
Back when primers were $30/1000, I was buying them every month
When primers were selling for $120/1000 - I didn't buy primers for 2 years and turned into a Horder
---
So if the price is attractive enough, people will buy more because they will shoot more and become a larger part of the market

I'm definitely not a Hoarder either, though these days I do keep a certain supply of components (like primers) available and will rotate through them to keep them as fresh as possible. It's also allows me to take my time and buy when a good deal pops up. :D When primers were cheap and plentiful, my approach was different where I'd do like manufactures did in there supply chain . . . . just receiving what I need "Just-In-Time". So, my shelves are much fuller than they used to be.

We likely will setup a partnership with a group of guys that are also shooters and let them sell our primers direct to consumer via an online store. It doesn't make sense for us to try to manage that internally. We will provide them with regular shipments of all of our primers. I am sure some retailers will sell our primers as well but we will make sure you can jump online and get what you need for as low of a price as possible.

I did the same thing. I stocked up on my favorite primers and powders when the prices were good. I went several years and didn't buy much. I put primers in those vacuum bags and suck the air out. They will keep for decades like that.

You are correct Adam. I can't see us doing it internally. It is really a completely different business selling direct to consumer. We know some folks that have experience in selling online and could do a great job. They are hunters, reloading folks and want to see primer prices decline just a bit. They want to partner with some other companies so they can also offer some deals on brass and bullets and such as well. Midway USA, yeah I am a fan and have spent a lot of money with them over the decades but we will have a bit more control over keeping our prices down if I partner with guys I grew up with.

I have talked with a large distributor in Australia and they have already expressed their desire to have us ship them primers monthly. I can't tell you who they are, but I can tell you it is a large retailer that sells guns and ammo in your country. S&B is such an amazing company and they have an incredible history manufacturing ammunition. One of the oldest and best in the world. What we have in our favor is technology that has not been used in this industry before. We also have world class chemists.
I can only image the logistics and layers of complexity required for hazmat shipping a large container full of millions of primers once a month.
