New Norma 6 dasher reamer

Looks like the same as some of the PTG Lapua reamer prints. 1.2479 min - 1.2524 max.
This is from .375 on the shoulder to the bolt face. If (?) the go gauge is accurate it should work

I remember reading something about the saami oal for a hunting caliber was one of the drivers in the longer necks
Can't find where I read it now

Found it not that it matters.
A note at bottom left of the reamer print Shiraz posted on the other thread talks about oal being hunting length legal in gas guns

Is anyone shooting the new dasher Norma chamber yet? How is the brass and how is the accuracy?? Lee

Anyone here get their hands on the new ptg 6 dasher reamer that shiraz had made for the new 6 dasher brass yet? I'd really like to rent or buy your reamer. This will be used on my personal barrel. New blank. Bullets.com doesn't have any in stock or I'd just buy one. Can anyone help me out? Thanks lee
I've used one. One of my customers lives about 5 hours north of Marshall drove through hell to get to my shop Wednesday and stood there waiting for me to chamber his barrel so he could have a opportunity to shoot that thing in a match this summer.
I looked the print over, all you need is one of those 6mm Dasher .104 X .2435 freebore reamers that PTG has sold for years with .4708 diameter at .200 forward of the head stamp. If you have one of those and a case trimmer you got what you need to try out that new Norma Jean brass.
You surely have a throating reamer??
If you buy a .272 deltronic pin gauge and a .272 diameter neck reamer you can make that neck as long as it needs to be.
The PTG Dasher Norma print shows the chamber length at 1.605 and some of the brass out of the bag measures 1.603.
I talked him out of a piece of his brass while he was here, just to have something to look at every once in a while.

I have been reading this thread about this new brass which is great but why is this guy trying to make these necks longer a lot of work with the regular dasher or buy a new reamer a lot of extra work in my opinion.
Stan
I expect there were several reasons for it Stan.
If I was going to foot the bill for a big batch of brass for a new caliber i would analyze what we had and consider what would make it more desirable. If the fellars that invented the Dasher could have made it the way they wanted it and had a longer neck I bet it would've had a longer neck all along.
I noticed Dave and Shiraz had their names and the date they came together on this new reamer print. If you look at the notes on the other side of the page there's a note about some states restrict some rifle calibers by case length and some where in the world 1.6" is a minimum.
One more I think came into play is quite simply because Shiraz wanted it that way.

Does anyone know if we will have to get a new Go gauge or will the headspace remain the same as with Lapua brass? thanks Lee
The print I have shows the datum at the same place as my old reamers.
I measured the datum on the old fireformed brass the new brass and the go gauge and found the new brass .001 short of the go gauge. That's perfect for smiths that chamber exactly on "Go".

Just finished up a 7.5 twist Brux 1.250 straight for a customer with new reamer. I had Norma, cases as well as "Go" headspace gauge. With my blade mic, I could not distinguish the difference in reading, both were the same on 1 piece, .001" less on another. GTG
