http://www.sinclairintl.com/reloading-equipment/reloading-dies/rifle-dies/micro-adjust-bullet-seaters-prod65610.aspx

Direct Quote from Sinclair's Site:
"We gathered our customers ideas and reloading experience with hand dies, and partnered with the experts who make them, to introduce the new Sinclair/L.E. Wilson Micro-Adjust Bullet Seater. It features easy-adjust seating depth capabilities with a simple turn of the die body. Sinclair/L.E. Wilson Micro-Adjust Bullet Seaters are detent-bearing driven with positive “click” increments of .0005” for fast, accurate bullet seating depth adjustments. Here are the details of construction:

1) Each seater stem is custom fitted to the seater body ensuring close tolerance fit
2) Precision-cut threads allow bullet seating depth adjustment in .0005” increments
3) Graduated scale for repeated use with different bullets and seating depths
4) Micro-Adjust “clicks” via stainless springs and stainless ball bearings
5) Constructed of 416 Stainless Steel with precise, laser-etched adjustment scale
6) Made in the USA by L.E. Wilson with 85 years of inline die experience

We feel these dies are the finest available in terms of quality, construction, and performance. Available in 12 popular cartridge offerings."

Any opinions?

Wow...for two Benjamin's, I would pass. They are out of their tree regarding the price!! In the end, its still a SAMMI spec chambered seater. You can have a custom seater made with your reamer cheaper and put a Sinclair micrometer top on it. Then you will have something!

A little story......A few weeks ago (like three or so), I contacted Sinclair to place an order that included many items to load 6BR as this is a new chambering for me. I had heard something from someone recently about the development of these new Wilson seating dies. I asked to speak with a tech rep (spoke with two) to see if these were available and to find out price, etc. The customer and tech reps told me they didn't know what I was talking about and no such animal is available. I placed my order for the regular die as well as all the other items. (I feel as if I have personally kept Sinclair in business over the last several years).

Well, the following day (literally) Sinclair puts out the new edition of their email newsletter and there at the top was an article describing this new item. For the price, I wouldn't buy it, but don't you think that a small company should have better in-house knowledge about their products?

These look like the cat's meow. Price puts them beyond what I feel comfortable with spending for a bullet seater, but then again I'm just an old retired poor guy. Should I ever wise up and have just one caliber instead of 10, I would probably invest in one. I'm betting they will sell lots of them.

Just drop this on top of your Wilson seater for $40.

Well, to add to what Dennis said, about 4 - 5 yrs ago I bought such a seater die that is boxed in a Wilson yellow box, but that mic looks like anodized/blue steel, from another shooter. The caliber is 22-250. That die is still in my storage bin today as I changed the caliber on that rifle and never ended up using the thing very much. I too called Sinclair (one of my favorite "Candy Stores") and ask to speak to someone who could tell me what this is and how this die came about as I'd never seen one before. Their expert told me someone must have "customized" one of the Wilson dies and he had never seen such a thing before. BTW, sent them a picture of it in an email. SO now some 4 - 5 yrs later, what appears in their new catalog.......the same looking seat die, but the micrometer is all steel as well. I have to believe somehow the die I have was a prototype that someone got hold of and I ended up with it.

Next, I pretty much exclusively use the Wilson Inline Seater dies for all the calibers I reload for because they have provided me with the most consistent runout of any dies I've ever used. Now would I pay $199 for a Seater die like that even from WIlson...HELL NO. The majority of my Wilson Seaters all have the mic adjustable heads and they work just fine thank you. I guess only time will tell if some genius who "invented" this new style, gets to keep his job or not. I also think it safe to say the market place will gives it's approval or denial of this newer fandangle looking seater die. As has been said by others, you could most like get a custom seater die to match your custom rig for that kinda money.

Alex

P.S. Anyone out there who is looking for Wilson Seater die in 22-250 that looks very similar (except the mic is anodized/blue steel), I've got one available, $45 shipped TYD OBO.

I need to clarify a few things on the die I have as I just dug it out to look at it, after all these years. The entire body of it is anodized except for the seater head. It looks identical to the pictured model shown at the start of this thread, EXCEPT no name across the front and the seater head is the old style flat head and not the new rounded head about the top of the die.

Are there that many guys out there using arbor presses to load with? I know a lot of BR loading practices have bled over to our everyday loading and been embraced by more than a few LR shooters, but I don't personally know anyone who's using an arbor press. Since these new seaters aren't threaded for use in a 7/8-14 press, I'm going to assume they're meant for use with an arbor press.

I can barely keep up with my LR ammo needs using a single stage RockChucker & Big Boss II - and I have Forster BR Ultra Mic seaters for all but one cartridge I load for.

If you want a nice micro-adjust ss bullet seater with click adjustments for $50 less look at a JLC. I have 3 of them and they a very nice seater die.

I do. I have a K&M with the force measurement system on it. I'm sure you will find quite a few guys using arbor presses for their match ammo, long and short range.

I have about $125 into my custom seater made by my smith awhile back. Started as a Wilson blank and I added the micrometer top. The big thing here is my chamber reamer was used to make it...no slop at all around the case.

I'm not a BR guy but I load like one. All I use is an arbor press.

I am a BR guy who also loads like one but who doesn't compete. I haven't used a full sized press to seat a bullet in three years.

And another thing fellas, I have three seater "stems" for my older type Wilson. They all have the same problem. They don't contact the ogive further down on the bullet. Take that stem out, place a bullet in it, and see how much "wiggle" there is. It's awful. I'm going to buy a Don Nielsen Seater where the wiggle is non existant. It will keep your bullet straight while going into the case neck, period. He showed this "feature" to me at last years Super Shoot. It doesn't have a "mike" on it, but I can deal with that. That's why we use "shims" of varying thickness under our stems, to add a few thou, or remove a few.

I shoot short range BR and can tell you NO one seats with a press. I saw a barrel maker friend of mine just use the palm of his hand on a Wilson seater. That gets him away from having to carry the extra weight of the arbor press. Actually,....why not ?

Wilsons new Die is very nice, I've always used the cheaper versions, @ about 100 a pop. I never used a large press and seater, (only just to see if it would seat as good as a Wilson , and it did well with a redding comp seater in it.)
I have found the Arbor press and Wilson seaters to be more compact ,simple, and bullet proof functioning, you don't need a mounted press on a bench to press bullets, thats kinda over kill and not very portable.
