Hey fellow Southern'er ... the Tikka should be arriving in the next few days. Got a used T3X and will be doing a gradual improvement on it for some long range target style shooting. I will probably start with pulling the sporter barrel and looking for a used heavy barrel in 308 or 6.5cm. I'll shoot that for a while to save for a nice barrel and stock.G'day from the far south
So what are you building on the Tikka?
I'm creepin up to the edge...welcome to the rabbit hooooooolllllllleeeeeeee don't fall![]()

I like your quote as well @Brians356That's odd, I don't see murray brooks' signature, or anyone else's now. ???

I like your thinking. I built a 223 FTR on a used Tikka last year. T3, not an X. Already had a Jard trigger. Had a 28inTru Flite 1-8 barrel put on and a GRS Bifrost stock. Loves 75g A-max. Well under a half minute gun. Currently using a cheapo scope - Falcon 3.5.-18 FFP. But so long as it works... The Tikka is such an easy platform to build off, compared to Remington or Savage.Hey fellow Southern'er ... the Tikka should be arriving in the next few days. Great job on your build, it's rewarding to make a little something a lot of a little something! My donor hasn't even arrived yet, but when it does hopefully this week, the first test of my metal will be breaking loose the factory pencil barrel. I will be scouring the used ads for the rest and will see how it progresses.I like your thinking. I built a 223 FTR on a used Tikka last year. T3, not an X. Already had a Jard trigger. Yes - they are one of two barrel makers in NZ, the other being Hardy Engineering who manufacture a very upmarket hunting rifle, which is distributed by Legacy Sports.Great job on your build, it's rewarding to make a little something a lot of a little something! Just a heads up about a barrel in 6xc that came up on the sale board. It’s a great cartridge. I have a Tikka with a custom 6xc barrel on it. @joshb thanks for looking out for me, I just found the for sale ad referenced and it does look like a great buy. I have not gotten into hand loading and just got a used 6.5CM barrel to get me going.Just a heads up about a barrel in 6xc that came up on the sale board. It’s a great cartridge. OK. Save all your brass. Your next step should be learning how to reload for your gun. Over the long term, you’ll save money and get better accuracy. Keep your setup simple and it doesn’t cost that much. A single stage press (RCBS Rockchucker is what I use) , a set of dies, a good beam scale and hand trickler, a powder thrower, some measuring tools and a couple chamfering tools and you’re in.@joshb thanks for looking out for me, I just found the for sale ad referenced and it does look like a great buy.
