New member loading target 9mm.......

Haven't reloaded in many years, looking to load some 9mm 115gr LRN for target shooting thru Ruger P-85, Security 9, and EC9S. Really tough finding supplies, but I've got plenty of unprimed brass, Bob's 9mm 115 gr LRN, and HS-6. Wish I could have done better on the bullets + powder, but it's all I could get. Still lookin for small pistol primers.

Appreciate any suggestions on this combo OR best powder to look for when supply improves.

I’ve been using CFE-pistol from hodgdon. Works well and is supposed to help with copper fouling. My LGS only has small pistol magnum primers available so I did a little google research, and most say to rework your loads and it will be fine. So I grabbed a couple thousand as plan B if I run out of my current supply of standard small pistol primers.Since you haven’t started there is no rework, if you can find the magnums of course. Good luck and hope this helps.

CFE Pistol and the old standby Bullseye ( uses very little in each load) work very will in target loads for pistol or revolver's.

Jarhead127 Welcome!
Bob Palermo's Penn Bullets? Great shooters.
His 115swc & HS-6 Combo, is the most accurate paper punching lead load, for my CZ TSO! Also shoots very well in my other 9's, too.
PowerPistol and Cleanshot are also easy powders to find good loads for all my target 9's, as well. I have an embarrassing collection of various bullets and powders to tinker with, and find Half the fun is in tweaking your load development, to squeeze all you can out of them!
Good Luck

I use HS-6 for 95% of my 9mm loads. everything from wimpy super minor 3gun loads, all the way up into 9major. Very flexible and clean. An excellent propellant for 9mm.

Universal my fav.
tightgroup my next.
Gotta really LOOK AT ALL TIGHTGROUP LOADED IN CASEs.
It can get bad easy.

Good luck on finding anything right now.

Just walked in the door from the range. Fired off 100 rds of 9mm. 124gr cast RN pushed by 4grs Bullseye and lit off by Winchester SPP. Thought I was shooting black powder from all the smoke Bullseye makes but it is a very accurate load.

I have just recently started reloading 9mm again due to the shortage and found some CFE pistol available. Have never loaded this powder before and I am finding that this powder needs to be run at the top of the load data in order to get the brass to expand enough to seal the chamber. Anything under 5.6 gr with a 115 hap and a magnum primer, and the loads don't seal. Have you experienced the same?

I load 5.7g with regular small pistol primers and 115 HAP's and have not experienced any sealing problems, but haven't tried anything lower either. I run a comp so I stay near the top of the book data though for reliable cycling. Thanks for sharing your data, this place is a gold mine for info.
